Budget Day 2022: electric car charging with solar panels extra interesting
Electric car charging with solar panels
“VAT on solar panels is going down from 21% to 0%,” the central government said. “By lowering the VAT for solar panels from 21% to 0%, private individuals, when purchasing solar panels, no longer have to reclaim the VAT from the Tax Office. This saves them and the Tax Administration work.”
The government also hopes the measure will encourage more individuals to adopt solar panels. For owners of electric cars, solar panels are of course especially interesting, because as soon as the sun shines, you can charge your electric car for free.
Snag
The government wants to abolish VAT on solar panels from January 1, 2023. The rate then goes down from 21% to 0%. But beware, because there is a catch. In fact, this so-called zero rate applies only if the solar panels are installed on homes or outbuildings of a home, such as a barn.
This proposal is part of the 2023 Tax Plan. If the House and Senate approve this proposal, it will go into effect from Jan. 1, 2023.
Prince’s Day
The Tax Plan is announced every year on Budget Day. The plans will then be debated by the House of Representatives and the Senate. By agreement, they usually apply from January 1 of the following year. Read all about Budget Day 2022!
