Best ways to reach Schiphol in 2022
We are all familiar with the chaos surrounding Schiphol. Long queues and cancelled flights are things that come with flying via Amsterdam these days. This also brings with it the problems of parking. We’ve picked out the best ways to reach Schiphol.
Cab
To avoid parking at Schiphol, arranging a cab is the ideal option. After all, if you are going away for a long time, it is not affordable to rent a parking space at Schiphol for all that time. There are several providers who can drive you to Schiphol from anywhere in the Netherlands. Please note the number of people you are and the luggage you want to bring. With many people, it soon makes sense to arrange a van rather than a passenger car.
Public transportation
An affordable and sustainable option is to use public transportation to travel safely to Schiphol. The train is a fast option and is easily accessible through major stations in the Netherlands. Schiphol has an ideal station, in the heart of the airport. Please note that you have to drag your own luggage through the train and to and from the train station. So for traveling with a lot of luggage, the train is not the most ideal solution. Also check the NS app in advance for your travel times, as the train is occasionally delayed or cancelled.
You can also travel to Schiphol by bus. There are 24 direct bus routes to the Airport, but the train is better in many cases. The bus takes longer, is tighter and in some cases runs erratically. The only reason to go by bus is if you live near Schiphol.
Schiphol Parking
If you do choose to travel to Schiphol by your own transportation, you can do two things. You can have someone else drive for you to drop you off so you don’t pay parking fees, but if this is not an option you can park your car at Schiphol. There are several options for this. Shuttle parking, valet parking or a Park, Sleep & Fly package.
If you choose shuttle parking there is a shuttle bus included. Also, with this offer you will receive secure parking, have to bring your own keys and have 24/7 access to your car. With the premium offer, you also have the option to cancel for free up to 24 hours in advance. A week’s parking in this form costs €85 calculated for a week in July. Prices and details vary by provider.
Valet parking is a more expensive variant of parking at Schiphol. You drop off your car at the departure hall, resulting in no extra travel time. Delivery time is 0-45 minutes and your car is in a secure garage. With the premium variant, the delivery time changes to a maximum of 15 minutes. The standard valet package costs €105 calculated for a week in July, while the premium package costs €115. These prices and details also vary by provider.
If you choose a Park, Sleep & Fly package you will have an overnight stay in a hotel and a shuttle bus to take you from the hotel to the airport. Your car will be on the hotel grounds during your trip. The details of this package vary by provider. This is the most luxurious solution for parking at Schiphol.
