Aston Martin DBX S (2025): when 20 hp is extra important

April 30, 2025

Aston Martin DBX S: powertrain and performance.

The DBX S is equipped with an upgraded 4.0-liter V8 biturbo. Thanks to modifications to the turbochargers, among others, power increases to 534 kW (727 hp). As a result, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, while the sprint to 200 km/h is 0.3 seconds faster than before. Top speed remains 310 km/h. The engine sounds more expressive due to a modified exhaust. Drive is via a nine-speed wet-clutch transmission that distributes torque variably between front and rear axles.

Weight savings and driving dynamics

Much attention was paid to weight reduction during development. Thanks to lightweight options, this car is up to 47 kilograms lighter than the DBX707. But you read it right: you have to pay extra for less weight. An optional carbon-fiber roof is available that saves 18 kilograms and lowers the center of gravity. New 23-inch magnesium rims are also available and reduce unsprung weight by 19 kg. Additional options such as a polycarbonate grille and removed roof rails provide further weight savings.

The suspension has been recalibrated. The air suspension and dampers have been adjusted for more control over body movements. Roll restriction is up to 1.5 degrees, contributing to a flat ride. The steering is 4 percent more responsive, increasing agility. The turning radius is reduced by half a meter to 12 meters. Braking is via large carbon ceramic discs.

Exterior details

The exterior stands out with a black grille, a new splitter, diffuser and side skirts with air guides. Customers can choose additional carbon fiber trim and a livery in Rosso Corsa Red, Trophy Silver or Podium Green. The exhaust ends are stacked vertically. Emblems are crafted in metal and enamel, with a red “S.

Interior and finishing

Inside, the eye is drawn to standard Alcantara upholstery with optional semi-aniline leather. A visual theme with herringbone pattern on the seats and headliner (if carbon fiber roof is chosen) emphasizes the sporty character. Red seat belts and ‘S’ logos on seats, thresholds and hood reinforce this. The Aston Martin wings are pressed into the leather with high precision.

The new infotainment system – developed in-house – is standard, along with an 800W audio system with 14 speakers. Optional is a 1,600W Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 23 speakers, tailored specifically to the interior of the Aston Martin DBX S.
