Chapman a charg\u00e9 le designer de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe Lotus, Geoff Ferris, de lancer le projet Type 66 afin d&rsquo;\u00e9valuer comment les principes de conception de Lotus pouvaient \u00eatre appliqu\u00e9s \u00e0 cette classe de course passionnante.  <\/p>\n<p>Cependant, Chapman se concentrant principalement sur la Formule 1, le projet novateur de Can-Am n&rsquo;a jamais d\u00e9pass\u00e9 le stade des dessins techniques et des mod\u00e8les r\u00e9duits. Pas moins de 53 ans apr\u00e8s les premiers dessins, le Type 66 prend vie. La Lotus Type 66 a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;occasion du 75e anniversaire de Lotus. Seules dix unit\u00e9s ont vu le jour, toutes \u00e9quip\u00e9es d&rsquo;un moteur Lotus V8. Le prix ? Plus d&rsquo;un million de livres sterling chacun.<\/p>\n<h2>Couleurs historiques<\/h2>\n<p>La voiture a fait ses d\u00e9buts en public dans des couleurs historiquement fid\u00e8les, refl\u00e9tant les couleurs rouge, blanc et or dans lesquelles Lotus courait au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1970. Entre autres, la Lotus Type 72 F1 a \u00e9galement couru avec les m\u00eames couleurs. Le moteur central V8 produit plus de 830 ch \u00e0 8 800 tr\/min.
