Au d\u00e9but : deux variantes<\/strong><\/h2>\n

La Toyota Celica de premi\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9ration a \u00e9t\u00e9 introduite en 1970 et n’\u00e9tait alors disponible que sous la forme d’un coup\u00e9 \u00e0 deux portes. On pourrait aussi parler de berline, car la lunette arri\u00e8re ne s’articule pas avec elle. C’est le cas de la Liftback, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 ajout\u00e9e \u00e0 la gamme en 1973 et qui \u00e9tait remarquablement inspir\u00e9e de la Ford Mustang.<\/p>\n

La premi\u00e8re Toyota Celica d\u00e9capotable<\/strong><\/h2>\n

La Celica de deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (1977-1981) \u00e9tait \u00e9galement disponible en version \u00ab\u00a0notchback\u00a0\u00bb avec hayon plat et en version \u00ab\u00a0Liftback\u00a0\u00bb avec une ligne de toit plus haute et une lunette arri\u00e8re inclin\u00e9e vers le haut. Avec ce mod\u00e8le, c’est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment ce Liftback qui nous est le plus familier. Une version d\u00e9capotable a \u00e9t\u00e9 propos\u00e9e pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 1979, mais pas par Toyota. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9ricaine Griffith a reconstruit des sp\u00e9cimens. Toyota a approuv\u00e9 ce projet et, dans certains pays, cette version d\u00e9capotable a \u00e9t\u00e9 officiellement livr\u00e9e par les concessionnaires Toyota.<\/p>\n

Troisi\u00e8me, quatri\u00e8me et cinqui\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de Toyota Celica<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00c0 partir de la troisi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (1981-1985), Toyota a \u00e9galement fourni sa propre version d\u00e9capotable. La Toyota Celica se d\u00e9cline alors en trois versions : la \u00ab\u00a0notchback\u00a0\u00bb standard, la \u00ab\u00a0Liftback\u00a0\u00bb et la \u00ab\u00a0Convertible\u00a0\u00bb. Il en va de m\u00eame pour les Celica de quatri\u00e8me et cinqui\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (1985-1989 et 1989-1993). M\u00eame dans ces g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de mod\u00e8les, c’est la version Liftback qui a trouv\u00e9 le plus d’acheteurs et qui est donc aujourd’hui la variante de carrosserie la plus connue.<\/p>\n

Sixi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de Toyota Celica<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Pour la Toyota Celica de sixi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (1993-1999), c’est \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s la m\u00eame histoire qui se r\u00e9p\u00e8te. La seule diff\u00e9rence est que le coup\u00e9 n’a plus \u00e9t\u00e9 livr\u00e9 en Europe, de sorte que le Liftback n’a plus re\u00e7u d’ajout officiel \u00e0 son nom pour d\u00e9signer ce style de carrosserie dans notre pays. Une raison suppl\u00e9mentaire pour laquelle, avec cette g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de mod\u00e8les, nous avons surtout retenu la version liftback dans notre m\u00e9moire collective.<\/p>\n

Le sp\u00e9cimen tachet\u00e9<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dans un garage d’Amsterdam, nous avons rep\u00e9r\u00e9 cette Toyota Celica 2.2i GT Convertible de 1995, qui se trouve aux Pays-Bas depuis 2010. Le cabriolet de cette g\u00e9n\u00e9ration a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 officiellement livr\u00e9 dans notre pays, mais nous ne nous souvenons pas de l’avoir beaucoup vu. Le coup\u00e9, quant \u00e0 lui, a connu un certain succ\u00e8s pour ce type de voiture. En effet, on en voit encore de temps en temps.<\/p>\n

La derni\u00e8re Toyota Celica : uniquement disponible en version liftback<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Le liftback \u00e9tant de loin la variante de carrosserie la plus populaire sur tous les march\u00e9s, Toyota<\/a> a choisi de ne proposer la Celica qu’en liftback pour la septi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (1999-2006). Cette d\u00e9cision n’a pas emp\u00each\u00e9 le succ\u00e8s : la septi\u00e8me Celica s’est mieux vendue en version liftback que toutes les carrosseries de son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur r\u00e9unies. Les ventes ont fortement diminu\u00e9 au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es de production. Tr\u00e8s fort m\u00eame. Ce n’est pas tant la Celica qui en est la cause que l’effondrement du march\u00e9 des petits coup\u00e9s sportifs en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral. La septi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de Toyota<\/a> Celica sera donc la derni\u00e8re.<\/p>\n
