Dimensions YangWang U8

The YangWang U8 is what you call big in every way. It has a length of 5,319 mm, a width of 2,050 mm and a height of 1,930 mm. The model’s wheelbase – the distance between the front and rear axles – comes out to 3,050 mm. This results in exceptional interior space.

Body-on-frame structure

The YangWang U8 has a body-on-frame structure. It has a wading depth of 1 meter. Uniquely, its IP68 waterproof and body-sealing technology allows the vehicle to float on water. This not only appeals to adventurous drivers, but also provides a safe solution in emergency situations, such as flash floods.

Tank Turn

Another notable feature of the U8 is the ability to perform a Tank Turn; in this, the four independently controlled motors can rotate the vehicle in place 360 degrees, just as the electric G-Class can. It puts 8,700 Nm of torque at the wheels. The suspension travel is adjustable over a distance of 15 centimeters.

Plug-in hybrid powertrain

The plug-in hybrid powertrain consists of a 272-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder and four electric motors. In fact, the car is on BYD’s e4 platform. In the case of this U8, we are talking about a system output of 880 kW (1,197 hp). Each electric motor is good for 220 kW. The powertrain delivers up to 1,280 Nm of pulling power. Four-wheel drive is a given. The 0-100 km/h sprint of this behemoth takes just 3.6 seconds and the top speed comes out to 124 mph, which is 200 km/h converted.

Charging Blade Battery from BYD

Fast charging, of course, this YangWang U8 can do as well, even with 110 kW DC, exceptionally much for a PHEV. With it, the battery is charged from 30 to 80 percent in 18 minutes. AC charging can also be done with 7 kW. The fuel tank has a volume of 75 liters. On electric range alone, this U8 should be able to travel about 178 kilometers. The battery type is a BYD Blade Battery (LFP) with a battery capacity of 49.05 kWh. The car has a weight of about 3,500 kilograms. This is one of the reasons why it is a difficult story to sell this car in EU.

hefty displays

The luxury edition of the U8 features a 12.8-inch R800 curved display with OLED material and 2K resolution, and two 23.6-inch mini LED displays. The intelligent cockpit is equipped with a customized 4nm 5G System on Chip from BYD and Qualcomm, which supports high-speed processing capabilities and a complete application ecosystem. The car even has a 70-inch AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-up Display) that projects real-time vehicle and road information into the windshield. Impressive!

A Dynaudio Platinum Evidence Audio System delivers a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos sound experience with 22 speakers.

Logo YangWang

The logo of YangWang explained

The YangWang logo is inspired by the Chinese oracle bone inscription for “电” (diàn), which means “electricity,” and is one of the earliest forms of Chinese characters used in ancient China. Oracle bone inscriptions, also known as jiaguwen (甲骨文), were originally inscribed on turtle shells and animal bones during the Shang Dynasty (around 1600-1046 B.C.).

Oracle bone inscriptions

The character “电” in oracle bone inscriptions was a stylized representation of lightning, as electricity was then associated with natural phenomena such as thunderstorms and lightning. The original sign often consisted of a representation of lightning bolts above a cloud or horizon line, which symbolized the power of electricity coming to earth from the sky.

Ancient symbol

As one of the oldest and most recognizable hieroglyphs in the world, “电” symbolizes the continuous progress of human civilization. Drawing inspiration from this ancient symbol, YangWang strives to explore the unknown with curiosity and courage, advancing the future of automotive technology.
