XPENG G6: XPENG’s answer to the Tesla Model Y
XPENG G6 stands on SEPA platform
The new XPENG G6 is on the latest generation of XPENG’s lightweight and strong EV platform (SEPA 2.0) which, like that of big brother G9, is based on 800 volt technology. The payload capacity is 280 kW. As a result, charging the battery from 10 to 80% takes less than 20 minutes.
LFP or NCM battery
Buyers of a G6 can choose a 66 kWh battery (LFP) with 435 km WLTP driving range or a battery (NCM) with a net capacity of 87.5 kWh and 550 to 570 km WLTP driving range.
Operating range XPENG G6
By default, the G6 has rear-wheel drive, but the largest battery can be combined with all-wheel drive. The RWD Standard Range delivers 190 kW/258 hp and 440 Nm, while the RWD Long Range comes to 210 kW/286 hp and 440 Nm. XPENG also provides an AWD Performance with two electric motors, together good for 350 kW/476 hp and 660 Nm. This model jumps from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds. The top speed of all versions is 200 km/h.
Interior and space
Thanks to a wheelbase of 2.89 meters and a clever interior design, the G6 offers plenty of leg and headroom, even for taller Europeans, according to the manufacturer. The luggage space measures 571 liters. The interior uses high-quality materials with a level of finish already familiar from the P7 and G9.
Xmart OS
The G6’s infotainment system runs on the latest version of XPENG’s Xmart OS operating system and offers as standard all of XPENG’s comfort-enhancing features and XPILOT driving assistance systems. The main driving information is right in front of the driver on a 10.2-inch display; all other functionalities can be controlled via a central 14.96-inch screen with high resolution and fast operation.
Updates
As is customary with XPENG, the system will be updated via periodic software updates that occur completely over-the-air and do not cost the owner any additional effort.
Few options
Each XPENG G6 comes standard with 20-inch wheels with Michelin tires, a large panoramic glass roof, multi-adjustable, heated and leatherette-covered seats all around, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, 4 USB ports, 2 50W induction charging points for smartphones, a 960W audio system with 18 speakers and an extensive library of music, video, entertainment and social media apps.
Heat pump is standard
To improve electric performance and driving range in winter, a heat pump is standard. It is also possible to use the G6 to power other devices (V2L). The only options are a power folding tow hitch (with a 1,500 kg towing weight) and some exterior colors.
Ordering and SEPP
The G6 will be available for order starting in May and will be at Dutch XPENG Stores during the summer. Every G6 gets a 7-year or 160,000-mile warranty. More information on pricing and specifications will follow in late April. In any case, the entry-level unit is eligible for 2,950 euros SEPP subsidy.
