The deep, growling atmospheric V8 of the Ford Mustang climbs into the revs and manages to stretch the smile on our faces further and further. The wind whistles past this fastest horse in the stable as we gallop through the polder. Cruising in this Mustang feels like riding ode to the atmospheric engine in a car that makes you one with the elements.   <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/AutoRAI_Ford_Mustang_Convertible_9-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217721\"><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Atmospheric V8: a sensory experience<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are engines and there are experiences. The Mustang&#8217;s 5.0-liter V8 falls into the second category. No turbos, fiddled plugs or other fuss. This is pure mechanics that responds as soon as you press the gas pedal. With 333 kW (453 hp) and 540 Nm of torque under the hood, this is not a car just for gentle cruising. The Mustang presses you into the seat and lets you feel what speed really means.     <\/p>\n<p>The V8 climbs eagerly into the revs. The sound swells into an increasingly full symphony, just as a classic American engine should. It is an experience that electric driving, however fluid and efficient, cannot match. The atmospheric engine responds instantly, building its power without any interludes except the next gear as another impetus for this horse to stretch its legs.     <\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not just speed, it&#8217;s character. In a world where performance is increasingly achieved in silence, the loud roar from the four exhaust pipes feels extra special and almost like an echo to the past. From the driver&#8217;s seat, the Mustang&#8217;s long hood almost seems to become part of the landscape. You have your gaze on the horizon and that is the only direction you want to go: forward, and preferably fast. Now we are driving the convertible in the polder, earlier we already gave the <a href=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/review-ford-mustang-dark-horse-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mustang Dark Horse<\/a> the spur on the N\u00fcrburgring.    <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/AutoRAI_Ford_Mustang_Convertible_2-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217714\"><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The ambiguity of the polder<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Dutch polder landscape offers a sense of infinite freedom. With the hood down, you feel the wind through your hair, hear the air flow and a landscape of flat roads, windmills and ditches reflecting the pile of clouds passes by. Everything here feels open and far away from the daily grind full of rushing, speed limits and route controls.  <\/p>\n<p>Looking at the polder from above, one sees not only an open and vast landscape, but also a strong demarcation that is symbolic of the financial landscape and zeitgeist in which the Mustang finds itself.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/AutoRAI_Ford_Mustang_Convertible_12-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217724\"><\/figure>\n<p>This car has stuck to the same recipe for decades, which is why it has become so famous: its name, appearance and interior cannot be matched. However, the subdivision of the polder means that, as a cowboy, you cannot always let go of the reins. Not only does every ditch present an obstacle, but the tax system curbs freedom considerably. A hefty bpm reminds you that freedom on wheels always has a price and that unabashed fuel burning cannot go on indefinitely either.   <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mustang: last of the mohicans<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>So we stop somewhere in the middle of the polder landscape. The V8 is silenced and the only thing that remains audible is the wind and the rustling reeds next to the fence on which we sit for a moment. We cast one more glance at the Mustang. The realization slowly sinks in: here is something that may soon exist only in memories.   <\/p>\n<p>So we kick its tail one more time. To give the V8 room to make its voice heard one last time, before it disappears on the horizon and the silence of the wind becomes deafening. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/AutoRAI_Ford_Mustang_Convertible_11-1280x720.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-217723\"><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It is a sound that makes your car heart beat faster.
