Stunned<\/h2>\n

“Oh my God, are you kidding me? I could’ve f**ing killed him!*”<\/em> shouted Lawson startled over the board radio, as he had to swerve at the last moment. The FIA later confirmed that there was a communication error: the F1 marshals thought all the cars had already passed the turn, not knowing that Lawson had just come out of the pits after an early stop due to damage on the first lap. <\/p>\n

Lawson still reacted with bewilderment after the race, “I just came onto the track on new tires and suddenly two guys ran across the track. I’ve never experienced this before, it was really life-threatening.”<\/p>\n

FIA responds<\/h2>\n

According to the FIA, the marshals had been put on “standby” to clear debris after an incident in turn one, but were called back too late when it became clear Lawson was still on the move. The organization is investigating the incident further. <\/p>\n

The Racing Bulls driver did not make it to the finish line – he had to abandon the race after earlier damage to his front wing – but the incident provided him with perhaps the most exciting moment of the weekend. You can watch the incident in the video <\/a>below: <\/p>\n
