Free loading<\/h2>\n

Volvo is coming up with a playful promotion: starting in February 2026, new buyers or leasers of an all-electric Volvo will get one year of free home charging. The Swedish carmaker is doing this in cooperation with energy company Vattenfall, which is providing green power – giving the story an extra sustainable touch. <\/p>\n

It works quite simply: you sign an energy contract with Vattenfall (yes, just switch) and use the Volvo Cars app to charge at home. The app tracks exactly how much electricity you use, and Volvo pays the bill – up to 5,150 kWh per year, good for about 25,000 kilometers of free driving in, say, a Volvo EX30, EX40, EC40, EX90 or ES90<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Snag?<\/h3>\n

There is a small “but” to this: for now, this promotion only applies in Sweden. But don’t think we’re writing about this remarkable promotion to lure you in with clickbait – because Volvo has already hinted that the promotion will probably come to other European countries later. It seems logical to us that the Netherlands is high on the list – after all, we are one of the leaders in electric driving and Vattenfall operates in our country. <\/p>\n

Tesla did it before<\/h3>\n

The promotion no doubt evokes memories of Tesla, which did something similar years ago. Back then, buyers of a Tesla Model S were given free access to the Supercharger network – not for a year, but for as long as the car lasted. So it wasn’t home charging then, but free fast charging on the road at Tesla’s own charging stations. There are still Tesla cars driving around – and regularly for sale – that fall under that old arrangement. So their owners can still enjoy unlimited free fast charging to this day. <\/p>\n
