Tighter in the suit<\/h2>\n

The Tonale has been on the market for almost four years and is therefore in need of a little refresh. On the outside, the Tonale remains recognizable as ever, but with a few subtle changes. The “Trilobo” grille is sharper and the new 19- and 20-inch rims give the model more visual muscle. Those who look closely will also see new logos in black and white and a rear end where the Tonale name now appears in black. Alfa adds three new colors to the palette: Rosso Brera, Verde Monza and Giallo Ocra. Combined with an optional black roof, the SUV looks a little bolder. <\/p>\n

More atmosphere inside<\/h2>\n

Inside, Alfa Romeo has mostly tinkered with the trim. Think seats with ribbed leather or black and white Alcantara, an updated transmission lever on the center console and new ambient lighting that gently changes color. The front seats are now electrically adjustable, heated \u00e1nd ventilated, and the steering wheel is also heated from now on. Other luxury features include a wireless phone charger, automatic dimming mirrors and improved climate control. <\/p>\n

Roots<\/h2>\n

Under the skin, the Tonale remains true to its roots. Balance and steering – once the domain of the Giulia and Stelvio<\/g> – remain the calling card according to the brand. Alfa talks about a wider track width and an even better-balanced suspension, with Brembo brakes and the familiar DNA ride selector. <\/p>\n

Less power<\/h2>\n

The only remaining powertrain for the Netherlands is the plug-in hybrid<\/a>, which now meets the stricter Euro 6E Bis standard. These new emissions regulations meant that Alfa Romeo had to slightly adjust turbo pressure and engine management to further reduce emissions. As a result, the Tonale now delivers 198 kW (270 hp), ten hp less than before. This difference is hardly noticeable, according to the company, because thanks to a new so-called Hybrid Control Processor, the transition between the two power sources is smoother than ever. So in practice, you won’t notice much of a power dip – at the stoplight, the Tonale remains just a smooth Italian. <\/p>\n

Technology <\/h2>\n

Technically, the Tonale has not suddenly become a driving computer, but it has become smarter. The 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 10.25-inch infotainment screen remain, but now work faster and get over-the-air updates. There is Level 2 driving assistance, a 360\u00b0 camera with “drone view” and semi-automatic parking. <\/p>\n

New versions<\/h2>\n

In the Netherlands, the lineup now consists of the Ti and Sport Speciale. The Ti has 18-inch rims, leather upholstery and many comfort options. The Sport Speciale is more lavish, with black Brembo calipers, contrasting stitching and Alcantara interior. Prices of the updated model the brand will announce later. <\/p>\n

Warranty up to eight years<\/h2>\n

A pleasant addition is the Alfa Romeo Special Sprint Warranty: up to eight years of warranty, provided maintenance is performed at an authorized dealer. With this, Alfa tries to instill confidence in buyers who still associate Italian charm with capriciousness. So those worries have been allayed. <\/p>\n
