How it works.<\/h2>\n

The principle is actually simple and at the same time quite ingenious. Underneath the car is a receiver, in the wireless charger is a transmitter. As soon as the new Cayenne – the first Porsche model to support this – stands exactly above the wireless charger – a kind of floor plate – the energy is transferred via a magnetic field. The car even lowers a few inches to minimize the distance between the car and the plate. The charging power? Up to 11 kW, comparable to an ordinary AC charging cable. <\/p>\n

Of course, safety has been considered. The floor plate recognizes foreign objects or movement between car and plate and shuts off immediately. The system has also been extensively tested by German testing authority T\u00dcV S\u00fcd and meets both European and American safety requirements.
