Volvo XC70 marks new step in electrification<\/h2>\n

Built on the Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA) platform, the new Volvo XC70 represents a major expansion of Volvo’s electrified model range. The car is designed to meet growing demand for plug-in hybrids with longer driving ranges, particularly in China, where customers can already reserve the car. Volvo Cars also plans to bring the model to Europe at a later stage. <\/p>\n

Up to 1,200 kilometers of driving range<\/h2>\n

Volvo promises that the model should be able to travel a total of over 1,200 kilometers without recharging or refueling in between. Note that these are Chinese figures, though. European specifications will not be announced by Volvo until later. “The XC70 is an attractive choice for customers who want to experience the benefits of electric driving, but are not yet fully making the switch to an electric car,” said H\u00e5kan Samuelsson, president and CEO of Volvo Cars. <\/p>\n

\"Charging<\/figure>\n

Fast charging and bi-directional charging: check!<\/h2>\n

The SUV is equipped with fast-charging technology that allows the battery to charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 23 minutes. In addition, it features bi-directional charging, allowing the battery to act as a power source for camping equipment, for example. For added convenience, many of the car’s functions – such as pre-heating or cooling the interior – can be controlled remotely via the Volvo Cars app. Thanks to over-the-air updates, the XC70 also always stays updated with the latest software, continuously improving the car over time. <\/p>\n

Scandinavian design and comfort<\/h2>\n

The design reflects Volvo’s signature Scandinavian simplicity. A closed grille with active air vents, clean body lines and vertical taillights emphasize both efficiency and modern design. Inside, occupants will find a spacious and cabin with smart storage options and an infotainment system with 15.4-inch widescreen display. <\/p>\n

92-inch augmented reality head-up display<\/h2>\n

Optionally, Volvo provides a 92-inch augmented reality head-up display, which projects important driving information directly into the field of view. The XC70 also makes some strides in safety, with smarter sensors, driver assistance systems and the latest generation of Safe Space Technology. <\/p>\n

Sensors<\/h2>\n

With radars, cameras and sensors, the XC70 continuously monitors its surroundings and supports the driver to avoid collisions or reduce their impact. In addition, the car has safety features that consider people in busy urban environments, such as door-opening warning that helps drivers and passengers avoid opening a door in the path of a cyclist. The XC70 also has automatic lane change assist, Park Pilot Assist and active navigation support. In short: the focus is 100 percent on safety. <\/p>\n

History of the Volvo XC70<\/h2>\n

With the introduction of the new XC70, Volvo is writing a new chapter for its well-known model name. Where for years the XC70 was synonymous with an elevated station wagon – beloved by families and adventurers thanks to its versatility – it is now a full-fledged SUV that seamlessly meets today’s demands for space, comfort and electrification.
