The new Porsche 911 GT3<\/h2>\n

As mentioned, we are on our way to the Oldtimer Grand Prix 2025<\/a>. That’s about a 300 kilometer drive from the Breda area. In a car like the 911 GT3, that seems like a tough exercise, but it’s not too bad. We’ll come back to that in a moment. We like to dive into the story of the new Porsche 911 GT3 first. Because there is plenty to tell about this blissful driving machine. <\/p>\n

Two particulate filters and as many as four catalytic converters<\/h2>\n

The Porsche 911 GT3 also has to deal with environmental regulations that are becoming more and more stringent. So Porsche had to work to keep this car on sale. For that reason, the 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine received a modified exhaust, two particulate filters and no less than four catalytic converters. All to reduce this car’s emissions. Those modifications do have some consequences. Remarkably, Porsche did manage to keep the power output at 375 kW (510 hp). But you now enjoy 20 Nm less torque, namely 450 Nm. <\/p>\n

8 percent surrendered<\/h2>\n

Porsche does compensate a bit. Thanks to a modified transmission – it is now eight percent shorter – more power is created at the wheels in each gear. The shorter transmission does result in a lower top speed. You can now reach a maximum of 313 km\/h, versus 320 km\/h before. Fuel consumption also increases somewhat. On paper, this car therefore has higher CO2 emissions. In the Netherlands, you also notice this directly in the price. We’ll come back to that in a moment.<\/p>\n

Heavier exhaust system<\/h2>\n

First, some additional technical specs. The new Porsche 911 GT3 has a heavier exhaust system and also extra reinforcements in the bodywork. The latter has to do with the car’s crashworthiness. The result is an additional 20 kilograms of vehicle weight. The car now weighs 1,460 to 1480 kilograms, depending on whether you opt for a seven-speed PDK automatic or six-speed manual transmission. <\/p>\n

Price Porsche 911 GT3<\/h2>\n

You will pay a minimum of 322,500 euros for a new 911 GT3. In 2021, the 911 GT3 still had<\/a> a new price of 240,000 euros. So that’s quite a bit more money. With some options you climb towards 385,000 euros or more, as this particular car in Oak Green metallic has. There are also lightweight options available. Think special magnesium wheels, a lighter battery and thinner floor mats. Everything is possible. In terms of design, by the way, the changes are minimal. The car has a modified front bumper and you get a narrow air intake. The rear spoiler has also been modified a bit now. <\/p>\n

Goodbye analog tachometer<\/h2>\n

In the interior of the new Porsche 911 GT3, two things in particular stand out. The classic, analog tachometer is gone and replaced by an all-digital instrument panel. Too bad for the purists, but the digital screen is more versatile. In addition, you can now opt for a rear seat in a GT3. In that case, this supercar is also a real family car. <\/p>\n

Practical carbon bucket seats<\/h2>\n

Did I mention that the seats have also been updated? You won’t believe it, but the lightweight carbon sports bucket seats are now folding down as well. The head cushion in the seats can be removed so it won’t bother you while wearing a racing helmet. Cleverly done by Porsche. Optionally, for the first time Porsche also provides a Weissach package on the GT3, full of lightweight extras. <\/p>\n

9,000 rpm remains magical<\/h2>\n

So how exactly does such a 911 GT3 drive? Well, personally, I’m a huge fan of the GT3. That’s because it is one of the most versatile sports cars you can buy. It is comfortable enough for everyday use or for a long road trip like the one we are taking right now. It’s also a beast on the track. I mean: 9,000 rpm. What more could you want? From 0 to 100 km\/h in 3.4 seconds and from 0 to 200 km\/h in less than 11 seconds. Those are serious numbers. Still, it is the engine sound that impresses most. This six-cylinder has a blissful “voice. The higher the revs, the deeper the soundtrack. Man, this boxer engine loves revving. And how it likes gasoline. Average 1 in 8 and you’re not kidding. Thanks to the optional 90 liter fuel tank, that does mean you can drive over 700 kilometers on a full tank. Perfect for a road trip. <\/p>\n

Engineering of GT3 RS<\/h2>\n

With this 992.2 generation of the 911 GT3, you also benefit from new dampers and slightly less direct steering for more quiet steering. The bumpstops have been shortened by about three inches. This results in more suspension travel. This makes the car more comfortable over bumps as well as more stable over kerbstones on the track. Also, the lower wishbone of the front suspension has been mounted lower to reduce diving during braking. This technique was adopted from the 911 GT3 RS. <\/p>\n

Time for the last part of our journey toward the N\u00fcrburgring. As soon as the landscape becomes more undulating, you know enough. You are almost there. The road towards the N\u00fcrburgring is also a feast. The asphalt is of a high standard and the views are magnificent. Because we arrive particularly early, we hardly encounter anyone. This gives us the opportunity to take some great shots of the GT3. You can see the result in the video. Quite noisy<\/h2>\n

At least the new Porsche 911 GT3 does not disappoint on any level. Admittedly, it is not the most silent 911. You hear exceptionally much tire noise and because the rear seats are missing in this car, the interior acts as a kind of sound box. So you have to talk to each other a little louder. But in a car like the GT3, you take these things for granted. Otherwise, you just buy a milder 911 with more comfort. The purist actually appreciates those hardcore features of a GT3. It simply comes with the territory. The blissful powertrain, perfect steering and forgiving suspension make up for everything. <\/p>\n

Still a blissful all-rounder?<\/h2>\n

So just driving this Porsche 911 GT3 is a celebration in itself. It is still the blissful all-rounder that lends itself to a track day, as well as a wonderful road trip towards the Alps. Or to the Oldtimer Grand Prix, of course, as we did. Just that price. Whew! That will be saving, saving and saving again. <\/p>\n
