GSE: from gasoline to battery<\/h2>\n

The three letters GSE are not on the tailgate of an Opel for the first time. In the 1970s and 1980s, Opel used the label as an abbreviation for Grand Sport Einspritzung<\/em>. Models such as the Commodore GS\/E and Monza GSE represented the sportiest versions in the range at the time, with injection engines and modified chassis. The GSE label then stood for performance with a comfort-oriented slant. In today’s context – as on this Opel Mokka GSE – GSE means something different. <\/p>\n

GSE now stands for an electric future with sporty aspirations. Opel began with GSE plug-in hybrids, but today Opel no longer links the label to fuel engines, but to battery-electric vehicles that incorporate elements of motorsport. In this sense, the new Opel Mokka GSE is more than a version: it is a further development of Opel’s electric expertise, partly built up in electric rally racing. <\/p>\n

Origins of the rally world<\/h2>\n

The Opel Mokka GSE is technically related to the rally model<\/a>. The Mokka GSE features a front-wheel drive powertrain with a system output of 207 kW (280 hp) and 345 Nm of torque. With that, the car accelerates to 100 km\/h in 5.9 seconds. The top speed is at 200 km\/h. While these values are not exceptional in EV-land, they are remarkable for a compact crossover like the Mokka – especially within the Opel range. <\/p>\n

It is supported by a mechanical Torsen differential and a modified chassis with new axles and hydraulic shock absorbers. This configuration should provide more grip in corners and a more direct response during sporty driving. According to Opel, the driveable weight remains under 1,600 kilograms, which is relatively low for a battery-electric vehicle in this segment. The car is equipped with a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery, which keeps it usable for daily use. The range comes out to about 336 kilometers on a full charge of electricity. <\/p>\n

Three driving modes Opel Mokka GSE: sport, normal and economical<\/h2>\n

The driver can choose from three driving modes. In Sport mode, the powertrain delivers maximum power. In Normal, the car is limited to 180 km\/h, and in Eco, consumption and energy recovery are optimized to save range. The energy system is based on the existing electric platform of the regular Mokka Electric, but in the GSE form is geared toward more dynamics. <\/p>\n

The steering, suspension and brakes have been tuned for sportier use. For example, the steering rack has been modified for more direct feedback and the shock absorbers have been adjusted for stiffer handling. The braking system has also been adopted from the rally variant. <\/p>\n

\"Interior<\/figure>\n

Adapted design with references to motorsports<\/h2>\n

Since its reintroduction in 2020, the Opel Mokka has been a striking-looking car with a recognizable front end, the so-called ‘Vizor’ design. The GSE variant builds on this with some subtle modifications. The front bumper and rear were given specific accents, including in black and yellow – colors that refer to Opel’s motorsport past. <\/p>\n

Notable are the new 20-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires. This combination was developed specifically for the GSE and should contribute to extra stability. Yellow brake calipers and black-and-yellow GSE badges on the sides make it clear that this is not a standard version. <\/p>\n

The interior has also been updated. The sports seats are upholstered in Alcantara and feature integrated headrests, white center lines and yellow stitching. The dashboard and door trim follow the same color scheme. The aluminum pedals and steering wheel with flattened top and bottom give the cockpit a slightly more business-like sporty look than in the regular Mokka. <\/p>\n

In the center is a 10-inch touch screen that displays information about driving data such as acceleration rates, g-forces and battery status – presented in a GSE-specific graphic style.<\/p>\n

Warranty Policy<\/h2>\n

Opel Nederland offers buyers of the Mokka GSE, as with other models, the option of extending the manufacturer’s warranty free of charge to a maximum of eight years or 160,000 kilometers, provided maintenance is carried out on schedule by an authorized Opel dealer. After each service, the warranty is extended by one year. This arrangement covers defects in mechanical and electrical components, but does not apply to wearing parts such as tires or windshield wipers. <\/p>\n
