The 400V architecture and 54 kWh battery provide a WLTP range of 370 km, and fast charging to 100 km of range in 10 minutes. Thanks to a Torsen differential and a reinforced chassis (+67% front, +153% rear), the Lancia Ypsilon HF is more than just fast in a straight line. <\/p>\n

After all, it is also built to steer. The steering is sharp, the suspension stiff but not punishing, the grip impressive. When cornering, it stays true to your line without getting nervous. Thanks to the limited slip differential, you can feel the inside corner effectively pulling at you. In addition, the Alcon braking system with four-piston calipers and enlarged 355 mm discs offers not only solid braking power, but also endurance in firm cornering and sporty use. <\/p>\n

Alpine A290 to rival the Lancia Ypsilon HF<\/strong><\/h2>\n

But how does it compare to the competition? As far as we are concerned, the Alpine A290<\/a> is the hot hatch to beat this year. If only because of the “Car of the Year” designation it shares with the Renault 5. <\/p>\n

So, that’s where the bar is set. Interestingly, the Lancia has more power and torque than the Alpine. Especially at higher speeds, the Ypsilon feels more potent. It keeps going where the Alpine loses some of its aggression. When cornering, it’s a different story. The Ypsilon HF is fast and stable, but lacks the A290’s playful edge. With the Alpine, if you force it, you can make the rear end come around a bit. An absolute treat if you like sporty driving. The Ypsilon prefers to keep everything on track. So it is and remains sharp, but does not deviate from it either. <\/p>\n

One thought does remain gnawing. What if this Ypsilon HF didn’t have an electric motor, but a bubbling and popping exhaust pipe? A compact, aggressive gasoline version, something like a modern “HF Integrale,” would have fit perfectly into Lancia’s history. Maybe one day that will come, we certainly hope so! A new Delta<\/a> is in the pipeline, but will be delayed until 2028. <\/p>\n

Not only fast, but also practical<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Despite its performance, the Ypsilon HF is also usable in daily traffic. It is and remains a fine compact car that is very agile. On board you will find the necessary driving assistance systems that make you comfortable on the road. Think adaptive cruise control, emergency braking assistance and traffic sign recognition. The infotainment system with 10.25-inch digital display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the updated S.A.L.A interface is clear and modern. <\/p>\n

Until then, we are absolutely content with this electric chapter. And frankly, it is a convincing start. The Lancia Ypsilon HF is a successful reintroduction of the legendary HF label. It looks muscular, drives sleek and offers more power than many a competitor. Lancia HF is back, and that is a celebration in itself! <\/p>\n

Still, would you prefer just sporty looks without the electric violence? Then there is also the Lancia Ypsilon HF-Line<\/a>. Here the mild-hybrid version is equipped with sporty trim. <\/p>\n
