From Swiss mountains to German highways<\/h2>\n

The record attempt began in St. Moritz, located in the heart of the Swiss Alps. This starting point – at about 1,800 meters above sea level – immediately gave the Lucid Air an advantage. Indeed, the route included quite a few descents, during which the car could recover energy via regenerative braking. Thus, the American electric car descended toward Lake Constance, the lowest point of the trip (just under 400 meters), then climbed to the Arlberg Tunnel at over 1,200 meters above sea level and finally ended in Munich, which is at about 500 meters. <\/p>\n

A clever route, then, where the combination of elevation changes and careful planning certainly helped. But that doesn’t make the achievement any less impressive. It shows what is technically possible – and how decisive the circumstances can be. <\/p>\n

Electric car with endurance<\/h2>\n

For this record-breaking drive, Lucid used the Grand Touring, the version with the greatest range: officially good for 960 kilometers according to the WLTP measurement method. Under the floor is a hefty 118 kWh battery, coupled to an electric motor that delivers 611 kW (831 hp). <\/p>\n

160 kilometers extra  <\/h2>\n

The Guinness Book of Records has officially recognized the achievement in the “Longest trip by an electric car on one battery charge” category. In doing so, Lucid<\/a> breaks the previous record of 1,045 kilometers, set in June by a Mercedes-Benz EQS in Japan. With an additional 160 kilometers on the counter, Lucid raises the bar a lot higher. Earlier this year, we also went on the road with a Lucid. You can see how that went in the video below: <\/p>\n
