Cybertruck recall<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that ALL model year 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks will be recalled. Since production for model year 2024 did not get underway until November 2023, this effectively means that virtually every Cybertruck sold will have to go back to the workshop. <\/p>\n

Loose panels<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The problem is in the so-called cant rail<\/em>, a part of the roof frame. That consists of a piece of stainless steel and a layer of glue that is supposed to hold everything together. Only it turns out that this glue does not withstand temperature differences very well. Result: panels that can come loose. That is quite dangerous when driving along the highway at 100 km\/h. <\/p>\n

On their website<\/a>, Tesla acknowledges the problem, “A detached panel can pose a traffic hazard and increase the risk of an accident.” The solution? Owners can have their Cybertruck fixed for free at a Tesla service center, where the part will be glued within an hour with a compound that does stick.<\/p>\n

Sales figures<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Tesla is normally reluctant to share exact sales numbers. Because of the recall, we now know how many Cybertruck vehicles Tesla has now sold, as virtually all of them are being recalled. The number is exactly 46,096 vehicles, built between Nov. 13, 2023 and Feb. 27, 2025. This is a modest number, as the brand had planned to sell at least 250,000 per year. <\/p>\n
