But you probably already guessed that, or Volkswagen would have put a GTI logo on it. The Germans are not yet ready to put that iconic label on an EV. And rightly so, that time will come. But what exactly is the ID.3 GTX Performance?      <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-33-1-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193946\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"1080\" data-id=\"193945\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-49-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193945\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"1080\" data-id=\"193944\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-35.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193944\"><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<h2>ID.3 with an extra dose of spice<\/h2>\n<p>Think of it as an ID.3 on athletic shoes. For those who find the regular <a href=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/twee-keer-kijken-dit-is-de-vernieuwde-volkswagen-id-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ID.3<\/a> too well behaved, the GTX Performance offers more speed and driving pleasure. With 240 kW (326 hp) and 560 Nm, this is the most powerful ID.3 ever. Four-wheel drive like the ID.4 GTX? No, it sends everything to the rear wheels. A classic recipe for driving pleasure.      <\/p>\n<p>And you notice it. The sprint to 100 km\/h takes just 5.7 seconds, which puts it in the waters of hot hatches like the Golf GTI. Top speed is 200 km\/h &#8211; more than enough. Besides, top speed and electric driving are not yet a good match.   <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-2-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193918\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"1080\" data-id=\"193947\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193947\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"1080\" data-id=\"193948\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193948\"><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<h3>GTX design: just a little more sporty<\/h3>\n<p>On the exterior, Volkswagen added some extra pepper. The ID.3 GTX Performance can be identified by sporty bumpers, 20-inch alloys and a more aggressive front end. The standard Moonstone Grey color leaves little impression, but if you really want to stand out, you should go for Kings Red, like our test car. Volkswagen does charge 1,090 euros for this dazzling color.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-15-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193919\"><\/figure>\n<p>Inside, you get GTX-specific sport seats and red stitching everywhere. The GTX &#8211; like the regular ID.3 &#8211; now comes with a new infotainment system. The large central touchscreen works smoothly and features ChatGPT integration. Handy if you want to know what the sprint time of a Golf GTI is while driving.     <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-55-1-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193925\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"1080\" data-id=\"193952\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-53-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193952\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"1080\" data-id=\"193951\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-21-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193951\"><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-24-2-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193933\"><\/figure>\n<h3>Driving: a real hot hatch?<\/h3>\n<p>A hot hatch is about more than just speed &#8211; it&#8217;s about experience. And this is where it gets interesting. Thanks to its low center of gravity (battery bottom) and a modified adaptive suspension, the ID.3 GTX Performance feels surprisingly playful, lively and alert. Volkswagen has tuned it noticeably tighter than the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/BpTrH36B-Ag?si=ub3P1sWSSkWstAeW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">regular ID.3<\/a>.      <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-13-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193926\"><\/figure>\n<p>The steering is direct, grip excellent and the car remains stable at higher speeds. But it is still an EV and therefore a heavyweight: it weighs almost two tons. And you can feel it when you start pushing the limits. The on-board computer also tempers the power output to prevent traction problems. So you don&#8217;t just get all 326 hp to the rear wheels, as you often can with an old-fashioned hooligan hot hatch.      <\/p>\n<p>But do we mind? Mwah, we understand. What again; if it were a hot hatch, Volkswagen would have put a GTI label on it.   The ID.3 GTX is a good family man who still wears his cap backwards. It&#8217;s a sporty daily driver that lets you transport the whole family without launching the kids at every threshold. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-17-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193927\"><\/figure>\n<h3>Range and charging  <\/h3>\n<p>The ID.3 GTX Performance has a 79 kWh battery, good for a theoretical range of up to 596 km. In practice? Think about 450 to 500 km &#8211; depending on your right foot. During our winter test week, in temperatures around AND below freezing, that dropped to about 400 km. So even in the most adverse conditions, you can cover serious distances on a single battery charge. Just fine.       <\/p>\n<p>Fast charging is also fast: thanks to 185 kW of charging power, you are back to 80% in about 30 minutes. Extra handy: via a button in the infotainment system you can preheat the battery while driving, so that when it arrives at a quick charger it can immediately be charged to full power. More brands could use this feature in their EVs.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-29-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193928\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Volkswagen-ID.3-GTX-Performance-30-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-193929\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Conclusion: electric GTI or not?<\/h2>\n<p>The ID.3 GTX Performance proves that electric hot hatches have a future. It&#8217;s fast, rear-wheel-drive and feels dynamic. But is it really an electric hot hatch?   Yes and no. It lacks the sharp, mechanical feel of a gasoline hot hatch, the sound and hardcore experience.  <\/p>\n<p>But when you look at the total package &#8211; the performance, handling and technology &#8211; this is an electric hatchback that could give sporty drivers serious doubts. Should the traditional hot hatch worry? Maybe not today. But the ID.3 GTX Performance shows that the future may well be electric. And above all: fast.     <\/p>\n<h2>Prices<\/h2>\n<p>For the 326-horsepower ID.3 GTX, Volkswagen is asking a minimum of 51,990 euros, which is considerably more than the 44,490 euros you have to pay for the 204-horsepower ID.3 Pro S Business, which gets about 50 kilometers less, but is obviously less sporty.
