Audi RS5 is a plug-in hybrid<\/h2>\n
The Audi RS5 has been a fixture in the RS lineup for years, but with this new generation, Audi is clearly changing course. Not only in terms of technology, but also in positioning. For the first time, the RS 5 comes as a plug-in hybrid. This may sound like a concession to the times, but in practice it turns out to be a way of taking performance to a higher level. <\/p>\n

Engineering Audi RS5<\/h2>\n
Under the hood is still a familiar base: a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6. Only now it no longer stands alone. Audi combines the combustion engine with an electric motor on the rear axle and a 25.9 kWh (22 kWh net) battery pack. Together, this produces 470 kW (639 hp) and 825 Nm. By the way, the electric motor on the rear axle produces 177 hp. The numbers are impressive. The RS 5 sprints to 100 km\/h in 3.6 seconds and reaches 250 or even 285 km\/h, depending on the version. Perhaps even more striking is the electric driving range of up to 84 kilometers according to the WLTP test standard. New Quattro technology<\/h3>\n
Audi is also taking advantage of electrification to redevelop the powertrain. The familiar Quattro all-wheel drive system is still there, but it is now supported by a system Audi calls Dynamic Torque Control. What’s special about it is that it enables electromechanical torque vectoring on the rear axle. In plain language, the system can actively distribute power between the rear wheels, making the car sharper in steering and more stable out of corners. Audi calls it a world first for a production car. Another view of luxury<\/h2>\n
Where Audi really stands out in the Netherlands is the standard equipment. It is clearly higher here than in other European countries. This fits into a trend where manufacturers offer fewer individual options and compose more complete versions. Here, the RS5 comes standard with RS sport seats plus, finished in black leather with gray accents, including ventilation and massage function. Things like the Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System, an MMI passenger display and extensive ambient lighting are also standard. It’s an interesting choice. Instead of a long options list, you get a car that is already pretty much “done” in the basics. That makes the RS5 less of a configuration project and more of a ready-made total package. <\/p>\n
Also plenty of technology<\/h3>\n
When it comes to assistance systems and lighting, the Audi RS5 is also complete. Matrix LED headlights, OLED taillights, a 360-degree camera system and adaptive driving assistant are standard. Room for personalization<\/h2>\n
Those who still want something to choose from can turn to Audi Sport and Audi exclusive. With the optional Audi Sport package (8,500 euros), the RS5 gets 21-inch rims, custom bumpers and a higher top speed of 285 km\/h, among other things. There are also options such as carbon ceramic brake discs (10,860 euros) and a virtually unlimited range of exterior colors through Audi exclusive. Striking detail: according to Audi, about 30 percent of customers choose a color originally from Porsche. That says something about how important personalization has become in this segment. And about Porsche’s influence as a trendsetter in the world of colors. <\/p>\n
Two flavors, same philosophy<\/h3>\n
The new RS5 will come again as a Limousine and Avant. The sedan and station wagon hardly differ in technology, but do serve a different target group. The Avant remains popular with people who want to combine performance with practicality. The price difference between the two is manageable: the Avant costs 2,000 euros more than the Limousine, which starts at 119,990 euros. <\/p>\n
