What will come in return?<\/h2>\n

Mercedes-Benz is shaking up its EV offerings. No more jumble of models in every conceivable segment, but a few strong players that appeal to more people. That should ensure less overlap, lower costs and faster innovation. According to Autocar, the EQE and EQE SUV are the first two models to leave the field. <\/p>\n

Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ<\/h2>\n

Mercedes-Benz, however, is not putting the brakes on electric cars. Indeed, on the contrary, they are stepping on the power pedal extra hard. The EQE and EQE SUV will be succeeded by the yet-to-be-revealed C-Class EQ and the GLC EQ. Both are on the new MB.EA-M platform, equipped with modern 800-volt technology, making them nice and fast charging and extra efficient. <\/p>\n

The GLC EQ is already almost ready for its introduction: next week it will make its debut at the IAA in Munich. In terms of space and technology, it raises the bar a bit higher than the EQE SUV, making the latter actually obsolete. The C-Class EQ will follow in 2026 and is likely to get luxury features such as air suspension and co-steering rear wheels – options you normally see only in higher classes. <\/p>\n

And the electric E-Class?<\/h2>\n

For those looking for a bigger size: there will be an E-Class EQ, scheduled for 2027. It too will roll off the assembly line with the MB.EA-M platform under its skin. With that, Mercedes-Benz’s direction is clear: fewer models getting in each other’s way. <\/p>\n

Why is Mercedes-Benz discontinuing the EQE?<\/h2>\n

To be fair, the EQE <\/a>didn’t really catch on. Technically there was little wrong with it, but it wasn’t innovative either. And the design? Opinions differ on that. The somewhat round, anonymous design did not appeal to everyone – and that does not help in a segment where appearance is often as important as range. <\/p>\n
