The cold affected many cars and those who set off without a winter-proof battery cost them dearly. Modern safety systems also proved sensitive to extreme temperatures, resulting in many malfunction signals.   <\/p>\n<h2>Good snow<\/h2>\n<p>According to the ANWB, the large crowds were partly due to the excellent snow conditions, causing more Dutch people to take the car towards the Alps.
