This means that 7,267 more used cars changed hands than in February 2024. This is according to figures from BOVAG, RAI Association and RDC. Especially used electric cars were in demand: their sales rose by 17.8 percent to 6,742 units.     <\/p>\n<h2>Volkswagen<\/h2>\n<p>Volkswagen remains the king of the used car market, with 21,758 cars sold and a 12.7 percent market share. Peugeot and Opel follow in places two and three. The Volkswagen Polo and <a href=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/volkswagen-golf-r-2025-review-met-160-km-u-over-een-ijsmeer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Golf<\/a> remain the most popular models, followed by the Opel Corsa and Toyota Aygo. In terms of fuel, gasoline continues to dominate with a 74.1 percent share. Hybrids grab 15.4 percent, while fully electric cars remain at 3.9 percent. Diesel and LPG do a lot less well, with 5.5 and 1 percent market share, respectively.     <\/p>\n<h2>New cars: fewer sold, more electric<\/h2>\n<p>For new cars, February was not a top month. 27,820 new cars were registered, down 8.3 percent from last year. Yet there is one bright spot: fully electric cars did do well. With 10,174 units, 22 percent more EVs went on the road than in February 2024. That means electric cars now account for 36.6 percent of total new sales.    <\/p>\n<h2>Kia is the boss<\/h2>\n<p>Kia was once again the big winner in new cars. The brand sold the most cars, thanks in part to the strong start of the new EV3, which became the best-selling car of the month. In second place is the Kia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6nPwut1IN9o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Picanto<\/a>, followed by the Kia Niro. Three models from one brand in the top three &#8211; we don&#8217;t see that often. Last month, the Koreans also sold the most new cars in our country.
