China<\/h2>\n

China is the absolute leader in the (partially) electric car market with a whopping 23.4 million electrified vehicles.
\nThese include EVs, PHEVs and range extender cars.
\nThis means more than half of the world’s electrified cars are driving around China.
\nChina’s dominance is unlikely to diminish in the short term.
\nThe market for electrified cars grew 60% in China from last year, which is significantly higher than in other major markets. <\/p>\n

U.S. and Europe<\/h2>\n

The United States ranks number two with 4.8 million electric vehicles, while Germany is third with 2.3 million.
\nFrance and the United Kingdom are also contributing with 1.6 and 1.5 million electrified vehicles, respectively.
\nAlthough the Netherlands is not mentioned in this particular study, figures<\/a> from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) show that there are currently (July 2024) 494,601 battery-electric cars, 315,831 plug-in hybrids and 635 hydrogen-electric cars in the Netherlands. <\/p>\n

Declining demand<\/h2>\n

Yet all is not rosy in the EV world.
\nAutomakers have noticed a decline in demand for all-electric vehicles in recent months.
