Check the Vehicle History<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Use tools such as Carfax or the RDW to check for previous accidents, number of owners and maintenance history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Verification.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check that the VIN number on the vehicle matches the paperwork to prevent fraud.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Exterior inspection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check for dents, scratches and rust.<br \/>\nAlso note color differences in the paint, which may indicate previous repairs. <\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Underside of the car<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check for rust, oil leaks or other fluid leaks.<br \/>\nThese may indicate serious problems. <\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Tires and rims<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check the condition of the tires, including tread depth and wear.<br \/>\nAlso note damaged or bent rims. <\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Lighting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check that all headlights, brake lights, turn signals and interior lights are working properly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Windows and mirrors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check for cracks or damage in the windshield, rear window and mirrors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Doors and windows<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check that all doors and windows open and close smoothly.<br \/>\nAlso test the power windows. <\/p>\n<p><strong>9. Interior<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check the condition of the upholstery, carpets and dashboard.<br \/>\nLook for tears, stains or damage. <\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Air conditioning and heating<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Test the air conditioning and heating to make sure they are working correctly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11. Dashboard lights?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check that all warning lights on the dashboard are working and do not indicate malfunctions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12. Audio and navigation system<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check the operation of the radio, CD player, Bluetooth and any navigation systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. Seating comfort<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check that the seats are comfortable and all adjustment mechanisms are working properly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. Speedometer and odometer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check that the speedometer and odometer are working properly.<br \/>\nThis is crucial for accurate speed and distance measurements. <\/p>\n<p><strong>15. Brakes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Test the brakes in a safe location.<br \/>\nWatch for strange noises and make sure the vehicle pulls straight when braking. <\/p>\n<p><strong>16. Steering<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check that the steering wheel turns smoothly and there is no play.<br \/>\nAlso test the power steering. <\/p>\n<p><strong>17. Suspension and shock absorbers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Test the suspension by pushing the vehicle up and down.<br \/>\nIt should rebound smoothly without any side noises. <\/p>\n<p><strong>18. Gearbox<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Test both automatic and manual transmissions for smooth and accurate shifts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>19. Clutch operation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In manual transmission cars, the clutch should operate smoothly and without slipping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20. Motor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check that the engine runs smoothly without strange noises or excessive smoke from the exhaust.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21. Fluids<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check the level and condition of the engine oil, brake fluid, coolant and windshield washer fluid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>22. Exhaust<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check for rust or holes in the exhaust.<br \/>\nAlso watch for abnormal noises that may indicate a problem. <\/p>\n<p><strong>23. Battery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check the age, condition and connections of the battery.<br \/>\nTest if the vehicle starts without problems. <\/p>\n<p><strong>25. Hoses and belts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inspect all hoses and belts for wear, tears and signs of aging.<\/p>\n<p><strong>26. Radiator<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check the condition of the radiator and coolant level.<br \/>\nWatch for signs of overheating. <\/p>\n<p><strong>27. Fuel System<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check the fuel lines and filter for leaks and blockages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>28. Chassis and suspension<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inspect chassis components and suspension for wear or damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>29. Handbrake<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Test the handbrake on an incline to ensure that it functions properly and holds the vehicle in place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>30. Test Drive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Take a comprehensive test drive to assess the overall driving experience.<br \/>\nPay attention to comfort, performance and sounds. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Finally, follow your gut<\/h2>\n<p>Finally, when buying a used car, follow your gut feeling.<br \/>\nWhen in doubt, don&#8217;t do it.<br \/>\nAfter all, you can only spend your money once.<br \/>\nThe feeling has to be right.<br \/>\nAnd when in doubt, let the buyer know why you are in doubt.<br \/>\nBe honest, patient and ensure good and clear communication.<br \/>\nTogether you can always work it out.<br \/>\nThe most important thing is to remain friendly, even if the buyer seems irritated.<br \/>\nAnd if it doesn&#8217;t feel right in the end?<br \/>\nThen just thank them for their time and look for another car.         <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"30-point checklist occasion buying Buying an occasion is not something you do every day, of course.
