The Tesla Model Y is a global bestseller, and Nio hopes to snatch a good portion of the market from the Americans with the Onvo L60. \nAt least in home country China. \nBut what exactly is Onvo? \nThink of it as Nio’s budget brand. \nThe Renault-Dacia comparison doesn’t quite go, as the Onvo offers quite a bit of luxury and technology, but at Dacia-like prices. \nThe Onvo L60 has a starting price of 149,900 yuan, about 19,000 euros. \nThat makes it about 9,000 euros cheaper than the Tesla Model Y in China. <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

By the way, for 19,000 euros you are not ready immediately, because the battery you will have to rent, for 75 euros per month. \nIncluding battery, the brand asks 26,000 euros for the entry-level car. \nStill a reasonable amount, then. \nYou then get 60 kWh in the bottom and a range of 555 kilometers, although this is calculated according to an optimistic Chinese measurement method. \nIn practice, you should think of about 300 to 400 kilometers. \nFor a longer range of 730 kilometers (practice: 500-600 kilometers), an 85 kWh variant is available, starting from 235,900 yuan (about 29,000 euros). <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Like Nio’s models, the Onvo L60 can also “swap” its batteries. At a battery swap station, you can swap out a drained battery for a charged one, eliminating the need to stop by a quick charger during a long trip. Despite its price, the Onvo L60’s performance is quite impressive. The rear-wheel-drive car boasts 240 kW (326 hp) and sprints from 0 to 100 km\/h in 5.9 seconds. For those who want more power, there is a dual-motor variant, good for 340 kW (462 hp), which reduces the sprint time to 4.6 seconds. <\/p>\n
Design and dimensions<\/h2>\n
In terms of dimensions, the Onvo L60 is slightly larger than the Tesla Model Y, at 4.82 meters long. \nIts very low drag coefficient of 0.229 makes it one of the most streamlined SUVs on the market. \nInside, the L60’s design is clearly inspired by Tesla’s minimalist style. \nThe large central display, sleek interior and rear passenger screen are almost copied one-to-one from Tesla. <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n
Is he coming to the Netherlands?<\/h2>\n
First deliveries are scheduled for Sept. 28 in China, and the brand expects to sell about 20,000 units per month by 2025. \nWhether Nio will introduce the budget brand Onvo and the L60 in Europe is not yet known. \nThere were concrete plans, but they may have been put on hold following the announcement of import duties on Chinese electric cars. <\/p>\n
