{"id":147644,"date":"2024-09-16T07:50:44","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T07:50:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/all-car-news.com\/schoof-cabinet-road-traffic-and-car-tax-plans\/"},"modified":"2024-09-16T07:50:44","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T07:50:44","slug":"schoof-cabinet-road-traffic-and-car-tax-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/all-car-news.com\/en\/schoof-cabinet-road-traffic-and-car-tax-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Schoof Cabinet: road traffic and car tax plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The Schoof administration&#8217;s coalition program includes the following points:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The car is the most widely used means of transport for many Dutch people.<br \/>\nThat is why we invest in a reliable, safe, affordable and future-proof main road network, with priority given to maintenance.<br \/>\nSo that we can continue to drive today and tomorrow.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The speed limit on freeways will be increased &#8211; where possible &#8211; to 130 kilometers per hour.<br \/>\nThis year, the government will present an Auto Action Agenda.<br \/>\nThis will include the approach for 130 km\/h and the response &#8211; in a safe and responsible manner &#8211; to technological and autonomous developments, such as the advance of the electric (cargo) car and further digitalization and automation.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In the coming decades, the car fleet will consist of electric cars and fuel cars.<br \/>\nIt is important that the burden be shared fairly between the two groups so that driving remains affordable and the electric car is sufficiently supported to meet agreed climate and energy targets and achieve nitrogen reduction. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The gradual increase of electric cars will reduce government revenues, while we are aiming for stable car tax revenues in the long term.<br \/>\nA fair contribution is required from the electric driver.<br \/>\nIn doing so, accessibility in the Netherlands must remain in order.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In the coming period, we will search for a new future-proof balance between these developments and, to this end, present a plan for a reform of car taxes and related mobility policy in the first quarter of 2025.<br \/>\nThis plan will elaborate various options, taking into account the agreements on car tax reform and related CO2 reduction as included in the Dutch Recovery and Resilience Plan (HVP).<br \/>\nThe preconditions here are that we end all new purchase subsidies for passenger vehicles by 2025.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>From 2026, there will be a new motor vehicle tax rate reduction for zero-emission passenger cars, partially compensating for the technical extra weight of the battery pack.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We want to explore what smart measures we can apply (for example, faster handling of road disruptions) to reduce traffic jams and congestion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We are further exploring what additional measures can reverse the trend of increasing traffic casualties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also curious about all the other plans? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksoverheid.nl\/documenten\/publicaties\/2024\/09\/13\/regeerprogramma-kabinet-schoof\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Check out the Coalition Program here<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Schoof administration's coalition program includes the following points: The car is the most widely used means of transport for&hellip;","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":147640,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[94,93,101],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-147644","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-background-en","category-car-news","category-economy"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Schoof Cabinet: road traffic and car tax plans - All cars news<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/all-car-news.com\/en\/schoof-cabinet-road-traffic-and-car-tax-plans\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Schoof Cabinet: road traffic and car tax plans - All cars news\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"The Schoof administration&#039;s coalition program includes the following points: The car is the most widely used means of transport for many Dutch people.
