Lotus Eletre R (2024) Electric hyper-SUV with 905 hp"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>No competition<\/h2>\n<p>The Lotus Eletre R ushers in a new era for Lotus.<br \/>\nThe British automaker, famous for its light sports cars, is venturing into the SUV segment for the first time with the Eletre.<br \/>\nIn fact, the Eletre has no real competitors.<br \/>\nThe Porsche Cayenne, Lamborghini Urus, Ferrari Purosangue, BMW X5 M, Audi RS Q8 and Range Rover Sport SV may fall into the category of &#8220;absurdly fast SUVs,&#8221; but they all run on dinosap.<br \/>\nThe Eletre is all-electric and leaves them all behind when it comes to sheer power.<br \/>\nThe base version &#8211; simply &#8220;Eletre&#8221; &#8211; produces 603 horsepower, but the Eletre R we are testing adds another 300 horsepower.     <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-23-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184222\"><\/figure>\n<h2><strong>Insane numbers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Eletre R is the flagship of the Eletre lineup.<br \/>\nTwo electric motors together produce 905 hp (!) and 985 Nm (!!!) of torque.<br \/>\nThere are freight trains that envy such figures.<br \/>\nThe result is a literally breathtaking acceleration from 0-100 km\/h in just 2.95 seconds.<br \/>\nKnow what you&#8217;re doing before you hit the gas pedal, because you&#8217;ll lose your license in no time.<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t worry about suddenly being rear-ended: the Eletre rolls on the widest tires tire maker Pirelli can provide.<br \/>\nThe top speed of 265 km \/ h is perhaps a bit mediocre, considering its power, but of course that is perfectly acceptable.      <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-4-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184229\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"184233\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-5-1-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184233\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"184234\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-3-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184234\"><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<h2><strong>Driving behaviour<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It is not only its brute strength that impresses, but especially how it manages to transfer that power to the road.<br \/>\nDespite its hefty weight of over 2,600 kg, the Eletre R behaves almost like a sports car.<br \/>\nNo, it&#8217;s definitely not an Elise or Exige, but thanks to the Lotus Dynamic Handling Pack, including active rear-wheel steering and Intelligent Active Roll Control, the Eletre R is exceptionally agile and stable, even at high speeds and in sharp corners.<br \/>\nThe suspension with dual air chambers and adaptive damping also allows the car to switch effortlessly between sporty and comfortable driving.<br \/>\nIn &#8220;Tour&#8221; driving mode, you float over the asphalt and don&#8217;t even notice when you drive over a high threshold.      <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-26-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184224\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Fast Charging King<\/h2>\n<p>A massive 112 kWh battery provides a range of up to 490 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.<br \/>\nIn practice, count on 400 kilometers, unless you go stomping.<br \/>\nThe Eletre and Eletre S both reach 600 kilometers on paper.<br \/>\nThe Eletre&#8217;s biggest party trick is not its power or appearance, but its 800-volt architecture that allows up to 350 kW of fast charging.<br \/>\nThis makes the Eletre &#8211; along with its sportier brother, the <a href=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/lotus-emeya-onthulling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lotus Emeya<\/a> &#8211; the fast-charging king of the moment.<br \/>\nYou can hear the transformer house near a fast charger sigh and groan as the Eletre slurps power in.<br \/>\nDespite its gigantic size, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes.        <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-28-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184225\"><\/figure>\n<h2><strong>Large but streamlined<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>During our testing, we noticed that the Eletre is a real attention-getter.<br \/>\nThe striking yellow color is partly responsible for that.<br \/>\nBut its large grille and special spoilers on the back of the roof also catch the eye.<br \/>\nThrough all sorts of handy little wings, spoilers and air vents, the car minimizes drag and maximizes downforce.<br \/>\nThe Eletre is large, but has a drag coefficient of only 0.26.    <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-25-1-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184226\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"184232\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-1-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184232\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"184231\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-2-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184231\"><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<h2>Chinese<\/h2>\n<p>Inside, the Eletre R offers a very luxurious and technologically advanced interior.<br \/>\nThe materials are of the highest quality and the workmanship is top notch.<br \/>\nThe brand leaves no stone unturned here and European automakers could even learn a thing or two from it.<br \/>\nThe gold accents that recur throughout are a matter of taste and may be more to your liking in China than in Europe.<br \/>\nThe Eletre is also practical: the spacious interior can accommodate five passengers and has a luggage space of 688 liters, expandable to 1,532 liters with the rear seats folded down.      <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-19-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184235\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"184236\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-11-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184236\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"184237\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-14-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184237\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" data-id=\"184239\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-9-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184239\"><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"760\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Lotus-Eletre-2024-21-1140x760.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184240\"><\/figure>\n<h2><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Lotus Eletre R blows everyone away in the SUV segment.<br \/>\nNot only is it the most powerful and fastest electric SUV on the market, it retains that typical Lotus DNA: pure driving experience, precision and craftsmanship.<br \/>\nSure, it&#8217;s not a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Y8_d9TcaONM?si=_y5agalp1N4aR2p7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">traditional Lotus<\/a> as you know it from before, but let&#8217;s face it: without the deep pockets of Chinese parent company Geely, Lotus probably wouldn&#8217;t even exist anymore.<br \/>\nAnd yes, that investment obviously has to be recouped, so they build SUVs.     <\/p>\n<p>By the way, we would leave the Eletre R aside and opt for the 600-hp Eletre or Eletre S.
