{"id":147205,"date":"2024-08-29T10:58:50","date_gmt":"2024-08-29T10:58:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/all-car-news.com\/car-sales-europe-hybrids-rocket-past-evs\/"},"modified":"2024-08-29T10:58:50","modified_gmt":"2024-08-29T10:58:50","slug":"car-sales-europe-hybrids-rocket-past-evs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/all-car-news.com\/en\/car-sales-europe-hybrids-rocket-past-evs\/","title":{"rendered":"Car sales Europe: hybrids rocket past EVs"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Europe in reverse  <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The European car market had mixed success in July.<br \/>\nWhile Italy and Spain saw a small increase in new car sales, sales in France and Germany actually slumped.<br \/>\nStill, overall, the market grew somewhat in Europe this year, with a slight increase in new car registrations.<br \/>\nBut what is most striking is not <em>how many <\/em>cars have been put on the road, but what kind of cars Europeans are choosing.   <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Electric cars<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>All-electric cars are losing a lot of ground in Europe.<br \/>\nAll-electric car registrations fell 10.8% to 102,705 units in July 2024.<br \/>\nThe blow fell especially hard in Germany with a steep -36.8% drop in EV registrations in July.<br \/>\nIn the Netherlands (+8.9%) and Belgium (+44.2%), EVs remain as popular as ever, but it was not enough to stop the overall decline in Europe in the month of July.   <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Hybrids on the rise<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While fully electric cars are taking a step back, sales of hybrids are actually surging ahead.<br \/>\nA fuel-efficient car with a partially electric powertrain seems to be exactly what many Europeans are now looking for.<br \/>\nIn July 2024, the number of hybrids sold increased by 25.7% to 273,003 registered cars.<br \/>\nEspecially in countries such as France, Spain, Germany and Italy, hybrid cars are unstoppable.     <\/p>\n<h2><strong>And gasoline and diesel cars?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Gasoline and diesel cars are slowly but surely losing ground.<br \/>\nEspecially in France and Spain, buyers seem less inclined to choose the traditional options, now that more attractive (and often more fuel-efficient) hybrid alternatives are on the market.<br \/>\nYet gasoline cars still retain the largest share, although the gap is narrowing.  <\/p>\n<p>Also read: <a href=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/zo-ziet-het-nieuwe-kentekenbewijs-eruit\/\">This is what the new license plate looks like<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-autorai-nl wp-block-embed-autorai-nl\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"O8DU3M8O57\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/zo-ziet-het-nieuwe-kentekenbewijs-eruit\/\">This is what the new registration certificate looks like<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Europe in decline The European car market had mixed success in July.
