It is amazing how many electronics and electrical wiring are in an all-electric car. Relative to traditional gasoline or diesel cars, electric cars contain a complex network of electronic systems and wiring required to support the electric powertrain, battery management systems and other advanced functions. Battery Management System<\/h2>\n

Among other things, a BEV has a Battery Management System (BMS). This system manages the charging and discharging processes of the battery, monitors the health of the battery and ensures the optimal performance and life of the battery. In addition, electric motors require sophisticated electronic controllers to accurately regulate power and speed. That also involves the necessary systems.<\/p>\n

Miles of wiring<\/h2>\n

A modern car contains up to more than 1.5 kilometers of wiring. In one model it is a little less, in another a little more. Everything depends on the systems and features present in a car. The more technology a car has, the more complex it becomes. In the EQC, all the technology is neatly tucked away so that you, the end user, don’t notice any of it at all.<\/p>\n

Technology in charging cable<\/h2>\n

In this open-ended model from Mercedes-Benz, you can also clearly see what technology goes into a charging cable, how the airbag module in the steering wheel is constructed and how much cabling is hidden under the seats. In this EQC model, even the seats are exposed.<\/p>\n
