We are now more than a decade on. The market for electrified cars has grown considerably and powertrain technology has also made strides. Renault now offers a complete range of electrified models. Indeed, almost every current Renault is available with at least some form of electrification. In this article, we list these electrified models at a glance.

Mild hybrid Renault models

Renault models with mild hybrid technology are the Captur, Arkana and Austral. Or most of the brand’s SUV-like models. Mild hybrid technology means that the gasoline engine is supported by a kind of extra-large starter motor. For example, the fuel engine does not have to work as hard when pulling away from a standstill. That saves fuel. So mild hybrid technology does exist only to support the fuel engine. In this process, the wheels are never electrically driven.

With the Captur, the Mild Hybrid technology delivers 103 kW (140 hp) or 116 kW (158 hp) of power, with the Arkana always delivering 117 kW (160 hp). At the Austral, the mild hybrid variant then delivers 96 kW (130 hp). The starting price of these models in mild-hybrid trim is 32,925 euros (Captur), 38,585 euros (Arkana) and from 37,330 euros you can buy the Renault Austral.

Hybrid Renault models

The range of full hybrid Renault models is much wider with the Clio, Captur, Arkana, Austral and Espace. In a full hybrid, the wheels do get electric power. In Renault’s case, the fuel engine is primarily there to support the electric motor, rather than the other way around. Starting off, the car always runs on the electric motor, and a hybrid can also do small stretches of all-electric driving.

In the Clio, Captur and Arkana, the hybrid powertrain delivers a system output of 105 kW (143 hp). With the Austral and Espace, you have access to 148 kW (200 hp). The starting price of these models in hybrid trim is 25,665 euros (Clio), 32,695 euros (Captur), 35,985 euros (Arkana), 43,830 euros (Austral) and 46,830 euros (Espace).

Plug-in hybrid Renault models

Then again, the range of plug-in hybrid Renault models is a lot smaller: those are only the Captur and Mégane Estate. A plug-in hybrid is basically the same as a regular hybrid, but has a much larger battery that can also be charged externally with a plug. Hence the name plug-in hybrid. The larger battery allows the car to drive much larger stretches all-electric. Usually even around 50 km (WLTP).

In both the Captur and Mégane Estate, Renault’s plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers a system output of 117 kW (160 hp). The starting price of these models in hybrid trim is 38,095 euros (Captur) and 37,845 euros (Mégane Estate).

All-electric Renault models

All-electric driving is possible at Renault today not only with the aforementioned Zoe, but also with the smaller Twingo and the larger Mégane E-Tech Electric. The Zoe has a system output of 60 kW (82 hp), the Zoe has a choice of 80 kW (108 hp) or 100 kW (136 hp), and the Mégane E-Tech Electric has a choice of 96 kW (130 hp) and 160 kW (220 hp). Depending on the version, the range of these models is 190 km (Twingo), 385-395 km (Zoe) and 300-470 km (Mégane E-Tech Electric).

Renault introduced the Zoe in 2012, becoming one of the first automakers to offer an all-electric car for the "masses.…
[93

post-134757","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-car-news

Renault's electrified models - All cars news

<meta property="og:description" content="Renault introduced the Zoe in 2012, becoming one of the first automakers to offer an all-electric car for the "masses.
