Halved Lexus RZ<\/h2>\n

A Lexus RZ sawed in half is obviously not going to be encountered in the showroom. There is always the final product there that you, the consumer, will drive. But it is interesting to know what is under the skin and how a car is built. In the case of this “halved” Lexus RZ, this is readily apparent.<\/p>\n

Sound insulation<\/h2>\n

For example, you can clearly see where a car manufacturer invests its pennies. For example, Lexus puts a lot of effort into the RZ’s sound insulation, as evidenced by the sound insulation around the wheel arches and even in the roof. Also with panoramic roof, the “empty spaces” in the roof are filled with insulation.<\/p>\n

Placement of battery<\/h2>\n

You also get a good idea of a battery-electric powertrain. Low down on the E-TNGA platform, Lexus incorporates the battery pack. In this case, glass see-through hatches were installed. This is not the case with the production version. You can now see how a battery pack is in the car and what is involved.<\/p>\n

Peek under the ‘hood’<\/h2>\n

Also interesting is a look under the “hood. The Lexus RZ 450e has two electric motors, one of which is in the front. You can clearly see all the components lying around, as well as all the wiring needed to control everything properly. Many parts require chips and circuit boards, because the more technology in a car, the more hardware and software is needed. By the way, every RZ is equipped with a compact and lightweight 11 kW on-board charger; you get a good look at that component as well with this “half” RZ.<\/p>\n

Appreciation for engineering<\/h2>\n

The dashboard is often placed in the car as a whole during the manufacturing process. As a result, you often don’t know what lurks beneath a dashboard. How different it is with this Lexus. You can clearly see all the components running, the insulation material and that obviously there is a big difference between the beautiful finish you see while driving and the construction underneath. What we learn from this unique Lexus RZ? That there is engineering involved in a car and that there should be a little more appreciation for all the engineering in a car. Every screw, every power wire, every chip and every piece of metal or light metal has a function.<\/p>\n
