You read correctly: that’s not for another six years. So for the next few years, we’ll just be stuck in traffic jams on the A27.<\/p>\nA27 is major traffic artery<\/h2>\n Mich\u00e8le Blom, director general of Rijkswaterstaat, says: “We can now tackle this important traffic artery between Houten and Hooipolder along its entire length. Both the environment and also the road user are going to benefit from this through better traffic flow on the highway, but also the reduction of stealth traffic on the regional roads. This will benefit road safety.”<\/p>\n
File top 10<\/h2>\n Over the years, the Houten-Hooipolder section has been intensively loaded by more and more and heavier traffic. On weekdays, more than 100,000 vehicles per day travel this congested stretch of road, which ranks high in the congestion top 10.<\/p>\n
This is going to be there<\/h2>\n Over seven kilometers between Houten and Everdingen, the road southbound will be widened to four lanes. In the northern direction, the two lanes and a rush-hour lane will remain. In addition, the Hagestein Bridge will be renewed and the Wood Bridge will be widened.
