Futuristic<\/h2>\n

We got our first<\/a> look at the new Kona in late 2022. Like the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, the new Kona has been given a futuristic design. The sleek, stretched lighting at the front and rear are especially striking. Seamless Horizon Lamps is what Hyundai calls this state-of-the-art lighting. The electric variant gets so-called Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamps and is Hyundai’s first model to employ this design.<\/p>\n

More space<\/h2>\n

Hyundai has now announced the dimensions of the new Kona. What seems? The new Kona is a whopping 15 centimeters longer than its predecessor! Okay, we actually already knew that. But where that extra space is, we now know. The wheelbase is 6 centimeters longer compared to the previous generation. As a result, passengers in the second row of seats now have 7.7 centimeters more legroom and 1.1 centimeters more headroom. According to the Koreans, shoulder room in the second row of seats is the largest in its class at 1.4 meters. <\/p>\n

Smart tailgate.<\/h2>\n

With the rear seats folded down, you have 723 liters of luggage space in the new Kona. How much remains when the bench is upright, the Koreans are not yet revealing. For added convenience, a smart tailgate is available. It opens automatically as soon as the Kona detects the smart key nearby for more than three seconds. You can adjust the speed at which, and the height to which, the tailgate swings open through the infotainment system.<\/p>\n

Powertrains<\/h2>\n

In March, Hyundai will announce which powertrains will be available in Europe. Korean customers can at least get the Kona<\/a> with a 1.6 T-GDi engine or a 2.0-liter Atkinson engine. The 1.6 T-GDi produces an estimated 198 hp and up to 265 Nm of torque. The 2.0-liter gasoline engine is good for about 149 hp and torque up to 179.5 Nm. These power sources are not interesting for the Netherlands, so you will have to wait until March for the real interesting news in this technical field. <\/p>\n
