When to change engine oil?<\/h2>\n

Almost every motorist knows it, but for the newcomers: oil is essential to a car’s engine. Without the lubricating effect of the stuff, an engine will jam. After a while, motor oil oxidizes, giving it a different texture. It is one of the reasons you need to change oil regularly. Your car’s owner’s manual will tell you when your car is due for fresh oil. It varies by car. Most manufacturers recommend doing this after every 10,000 to 15,000 kilometers. If you don’t drive that much, do it once a year.<\/p>\n

Engine management light<\/h2>\n

The owner of the Seat Leon from the video below was clearly unaware of this information. Or he is just very lazy and not economical with his car. We suspect the latter. The man only went to the garage when the engine management light<\/a> came on. What transpired? The car had last received fresh oil 60,000 kilometers ago. The video shows what the engine oil of the Seat in question looks like. It looks like apple syrup. The engine, a 1.8-liter four-cylinder, suffered substantial damage as a result, treating the entire car to a one-way ticket to the scrapyard. <\/p>\n
