The CRX was introduced around the same time as the fourth-generation <a href=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/review-honda-civic-ehev-hybrid-2022-honda-gooit-bullseye\/\">Civic<\/a>. The CRX was initially available with 100 and 125 hp. The 100-hp variant had a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and the 125-hp version had a 1.6-liter gasoline engine. The design of the CR-X was inspired by the Alfa Romeo GT Junior Zagato. In fact, the Japanese Honda designer had one in his garage.  <\/p>\n<p>In 1986, the CRX received new aerodynamic headlights, a different rear spoiler, new bumpers and 14-inch alloy wheels. The interior was upgraded with a compartment in the center console for cassette tapes.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"873\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/honda_ballade_sports_cr-x_1.5i_94-1140x873.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-143423\"><\/figure>\n<h2>second generation<\/h2>\n<p>Starting in 1987, Honda entered the market with the second generation of the CRX. It was built at the same time as the fourth-generation <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/CPQeUQTjF4w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Civic<\/a>. Originally, it too was available in two variants, but a third variant was added over time with more horsepower. The second-generation CRX was available with 125, 131 and 150 hp.  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"855\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/honda_cr-x_1.5x_1-1140x855.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-143424\"><\/figure>\n<h2>third generation<\/h2>\n<p>Honda came out with the third generation of the Honda CRX in 1992. So this also meant the end for production of the second generation. This third generation would mark the last generation CRX and was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show. Many people do not consider this generation a real CRX, because of its totally different concept from its predecessors.<\/p>\n<h2>Two spots<\/h2>\n<p>For example, the third generation only had room for two occupants, while the other generations had room for four. Although it was never really spacious in the back. It is also notable that the third generation has two separate high beam systems in the front bumper, which are often mistaken for fog lights.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"737\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/honda_crx_38-1140x737.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-143426\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Del Sol<\/h2>\n<p>In some countries, the third-generation CRX was sold under the name &#8220;Del Sol. Spanish for &#8220;of the sun,&#8221; which absolutely suits the car because of its targa roof. A targa roof is a form of convertible, but the roof can only open above the driver and the passenger next to it. The third generation also came with two engines. There is a 125-horsepower variant and a 160-horsepower variant.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"855\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/honda_cr-x_del_sol_sir_1-1140x855.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-143425\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Adverse sales figures<\/h2>\n<p>In 1998, the curtain fell on the CRX. Honda stopped sales because of disappointing sales figures. This was due to the high purchase price of converted 26,000 to 32,000 euros. Nowadays, of course, the CRX can still be purchased second-hand. Prices vary greatly because of the different versions.
