The new Honda Transalp nestles between the CB500X and the CRF1100 Africa Twin. Unlike the primal ’86 version, it does not have a V-twin engine block but an upright twin with 67.5 kW (93 hp) of power at 9,500 rpm and 75 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. There will also be a less powerful 35 kW version suitable for A2 driver’s license.<\/p>\n

Original Honda Transalp<\/h2>\n

Honda introduced the original transalp in 1986 with a 583cc V-twin engine block. The first version was known as a smooth, comfortable all-rounder that could also handle rougher terrain thanks to its long-travel suspension. In 2000, the engine capacity grew to 647 cc. The last version, which came out in 2008, had 680 cc and featured gasoline injection.<\/p>\n

After years of absence, the Transalp is experiencing its return. There is also increasing demand for medium-duty allroaders as a more affordable alternative to the fat giants over 1,000cc and superbike-level power outputs. Honda is no doubt capitalizing on this with the new XL750 Transalp.<\/p>\n

Same engine block as in Honda CB750 Hornet<\/h2>\n

The new Transalp has a 755cc standing twin. It is the same block as in the new CB750 Hornet naked bike. The twin cylinder has a 270-degree crankshaft that makes it sound like a V-twin. Furthermore, you can choose from four driving modes (Sport, Rain, Gravel and Standard). The intensity of traction control, abs, engine braking and engine power are also individually adjustable through Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). This also incorporates wheelie control.<\/p>\n

Large wheels and long suspension travel<\/h2>\n

Showa’s upside-down front fork and rear shock provide suspension and damping for the large 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel. Front suspension travel is 200 mm and rear 190 mm. The sizes of these wheels make it clear that the new Transalp is aimed in part at off-road use. This is also reflected in the seat height of 850 mm, which can be optionally lowered to 820 mm.<\/p>\n

Color display and LED lighting<\/h2>\n

As a rider, you look on a modern cockpit with a 5-inch color display. The lighting all around consists of LED. A special feature is the Honda Smartphone Voice control that allows you to control functions thus with voice commands. Provided, of course, that your helmet is equipped with an appropriate headset from Honda.<\/p>\n

Options and accessories<\/h2>\n

Honda still offers numerous options and accessories. Among other things, you can check a quickshifter and hard or soft side panniers. There is a choice of Touring Pack, Urban Pack, Rally Pack and Comfort Pack. The price of the Honda XL750 Transalp will follow. Delivery will begin in early 2023.<\/p>\n
