BMW Art Cars<\/h2>\n

International artists who turn a BMW model into a true work of art. It has been happening since 1975, when the American Alexander Calder started the tradition with a BMW 3.0 CSL: the Art Car. The artists are allowed to create a work of art with a BMW as a canvas. It produces a number of iconic cars, of which only one was made at a time. THE 8 X JEFF KOONS<\/h2>\n

This time it’s Jeff Koons’ turn to make an Art Car from the M850i xDrive Gran Coup\u00e9. The project was named THE 8 X JEFF KOONS. Koons was also allowed to design an Art Car in 2010, then with the M3 GT2 as the basis. The artist is known for his outspoken art, such as the Balloon dog<\/a> or the Rabbit. The latter was auctioned for nearly $92 million, making it the third most expensive artwork ever by living artists.<\/p>\n

The design<\/h2>\n

The base is a blue M850i with yellow bumpers. Comic book style visuals have been used throughout the car, with dashes running intermittently from front to back as a symbol of speed. Everything leads to the explosion on the back. The old logo<\/a> can be found on the hood in matching colors. In total there are 11 different colors to be found on the outside.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Spider-Man vs. Superman in interior<\/h2>\n

Koons also reflected the comic book theme in the interior, through the blue and red upholstered seats \u00e0 la Spider-Man’s suit, among other things. Or does it involve a fat nod to Superman? After all, that superhero is also cloaked in blue\/red. Either way, striking it is without question! Especially when combined with the door panels in cognac brown and the headliner in burgundy. Let’s just say you have to love it. Jeff Koons has also left a signature in the interior, along with the badge to show that it is a real Art Car.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Buy? Katjing!<\/h2>\n

Unlike previous Art Cars from BMW, this one is for sale. 99 pieces of the “rolling work of art” will be made. The price? A BMW dealer in Tilburg is asking a sloppy 405,000 euros and a bit for their example with 54 kilometers on the clock. A little further away, in Eindhoven, there is also one in the window of a fellow dealer. That one is even advertised for the sweet sum of – hold on – 1 million euros. Katjing! However probably this is a fictitious price. This is to keep out so-called interested parties with the questioning deadpan “What’s your best price?” under the guise “If you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
