Lap time officially set<\/h2>\n

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS completed a lap of the N\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife in a time of 6:49.328 minutes. An impressive achievement. Behind the wheel was Porsche brand ambassador J\u00f6rg Bergmeister, who was closely involved in the development of the new 911 top version. The lap time over the Eifel circuit was driven in the presence of a notary public. In other words, the lap time<\/a> is officially set.<\/p>\n

Critical of fast lap<\/h2>\n

Still, Bergmeister was quite critical of his fast lap afterwards. “We lost some downforce because of the strong, sometimes gusty wind. But still I am very satisfied with the round,” he says. “Especially in the fast sections, the 911 GT3 RS is in a class of its own. Here the car is at a level we previously knew only from hypercars. The car also sets new standards when braking. Fast laps on the Nordschleife are more than fun with this car.”<\/p>\n

Difficult circumstances<\/h2>\n

Frank Moser, the new head of the 911 and 718 series, followed the fast lap from the pit wall: “I am incredibly proud of what the team achieved in developing and testing the new 911 GT3 RS. J\u00f6rg Bergmeister fully exploited the car’s potential, even under the difficult conditions at the Ring. The 911 proves that the concept with the engine in the back is still excellent for high-performance sports cars.”<\/p>\n

Good rubber<\/h2>\n

The 911 GT3 RS with Weissach package was equipped with the optionally available Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires in 275\/35 R20 front and 335\/30 R21 rear sizes. The new 911 GT3 RS completed the shorter lap that was previously standard in just 6:44.848 minutes.<\/p>\n

Satisfied with time<\/h2>\n

“The 911 GT3 RS proved on the Nordschleife what you actually already knew: its absolute competence on the track,” says Andreas Preuninger, head of the GT model series. “Despite the less than ideal conditions with a strong headwind on the long straight of the D\u00f6ttinger H\u00f6he and too low asphalt temperatures, we are satisfied with the time. Never before has there been so much motorsport in a street car.”<\/p>\n

525 hp and that atmospheric!<\/h2>\n

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS<\/a> is equipped with a 386 kW (525 hp) powerful six-cylinder boxer engine with racing technology. Besides the high-revving atmospheric engine and intelligent lightweight construction, the cooling and aerodynamic systems in particular prove the direct relationship to its motorsport brothers. At 285 km\/h, the total downforce of the new GT3 RS is a whopping 860 kilograms, three times that of a 911 GT3.<\/p>\n
