Beregezellig, that Casper<\/h2>\n

Okay, design is a matter of taste, but admit it: the Hyundai Casper does look darn cozy. Tough nose, flared wheel arches, a hip ass and a nice interior. The car would definitely not look out of place on European soil.<\/p>\n

Positive reactions<\/h2>\n

The Hyundai Casper was once presented as an AX-1 Concept. Reactions were so positive during the presentation of this study model that Hyundai quickly put it into production. The production version became even more fun than the concept model. The Casper is on the same platform (K1 bottom section) as the Hyundai i10 and Kia Picanto, two cars that do sell in Europe.<\/p>\n

Compact dimensions<\/h2>\n

Very large, the Casper is not. In fact, it is smaller than a Hyundai i10. It is 3.60 meters long, 1.60 meters wide and 1.57 meters high. So not too big and therefore very convenient with parking in crowded European cities. The wheelbase comes out to 2.40 meters. Hyundai supplies the model with three-cylinder gasoline engines.<\/p>\n

Engines Hyundai Casper<\/h2>\n

The first is a 1.0 MPI with 75 hp while the top model has a 1.0 T-GDi with 100 hp under the hood. Shifting can be done with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. We are also familiar with these powertrains in Europe, as the i10 and Kia Picanto are available with the same engines.<\/p>\n

Electric Casper<\/h2>\n

So why not a career in Europe? As a mini-crossover, the Hyundai Casper could be a good alternative to the Suzuki Ignis<\/a> or all-electric Dacia<\/a> Spring Electric. Cars with similar looks and exterior dimensions. Hyundai is even coming out with an electric Casper. It would fit totally well in Europe, given our favorable tax climate for EVs.<\/p>\n

Come on Hyundai!<\/h2>\n

Hyundai to this day has not announced plans for a European career of the Casper. This may change as far as we are concerned. Because with all those sky-high prices and bills, Europeans could use an attractively priced compact crossover, especially if it also looks as good as the Hyundai Casper. So Hyundai, come on! Get that Casper to Europe!<\/p>\n

Gold mine, that Hyundai Casper<\/h2>\n

The Casper may be a gold mine! In South Korea, 20,000 orders were already placed on the first day of sales. Not surprising either with a price tag of converted 9,980 to 13,700 euros, depending on version. That’s not much. It is also a clever benjamin, as the front seatbacks fold down and the rear seats slide over 16 centimeters, allowing for a luggage space of no less than 301 liters. With a roof rack, you can also take it for a camping weekend.
