After seven years, the curtain has come down on the Renault Kadjar. But don’t worry, for a mid-size SUV you can still walk into a Renault dealership. You should then ask about the Austral. This SUV comes out in the C-segment<\/a> and thus will compete against models such as the Peugeot 3008, Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota C-HR, Kia Niro and the Nissan Qashqai.<\/a><\/p>\n

Dimensions<\/h2>\n

The Austral shares its platform with the latter. It is the first Renault model to be based on the third generation of the CMF-CD platform \u2013 developed jointly with Nissan and Mitsubishi. The Austral is 4.51 meters long, 1.83 meters wide, 1.62 meters high, and the wheelbase is 2.67 meters. This makes it one size larger than the new Qashqai and the Renault model it replaces, i.e., the Kadjar.<\/p>\n

What does the Renault Austral cost?<\/h2>\n

Anyway, what should you pay for an Austral? Boarding starts at 36,480 euros. You then drive away with an equilibre version with a 130-hp 1.2-liter three-cylinder mild hybrid powertrain. You’ll recognize it by its chrome grille and high-gloss black wheel arches and side skirts. Inside, you get a 9-inch central display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. So for a basic version already quite nice in the stuff. <\/p>\n

Techno<\/h2>\n

For 38,980 euros you have the slightly fatter dressed techno version, with larger wheels and a significantly larger infotainment screen. This 12.3-inch screen – seen in the photo above – features Google connectivity and services including Google Maps. A sliding rear seat – which you can fold down into two unequal parts – is also present in the techno variant.<\/p>\n

200 hp<\/h2>\n

Those who like to have a little more power at their disposal should go for the Austral Hybrid 200. It boasts – indeed – 200 hp and sprints from 0 to 100 km\/h in 5.9 seconds. For this variant, you will spend at least 42,980. An extra sporty-looking Techno Esprit Alpine version – with 20-inch wheels, chrome deletes, a splitter and alcantara seat upholstery with blue stitching – starts at 44,980 euros. In the Renault configurator <\/a>, you can now configure the Austral yourself. <\/p>\n
