Employers can reimburse travel expenses tax-free to their employees. That tax-free allowance is therefore going up. When traveling by public transportation, the employer can also reimburse full travel expenses tax-free. Employers do not have to increase travel reimbursement &#8211; also known as mileage reimbursement.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-content\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"1140\" src=\"https:\/\/autorai.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/prinsjesdag-2023-onbelaste-reiskostenvergoeding-1140x1140.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-131676\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Tax-free travel reimbursement (mileage allowance)<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksoverheid.nl\/binaries\/large\/content\/gallery\/rijksoverheid\/content-afbeeldingen\/onderwerpen\/belastingplan\/2022\/visuals-navigatie\/visual-meer-onbelaste-reiskostenvergoeding.png\"><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The Cabinet proposes to increase the tax-free travel allowance from \u20ac0.19 per kilometer to \u20ac0.21 per kilometer from Jan. 1, 2023. And to \u20ac0.22 per kilometer from Jan. 1, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These amounts are for travel expenses while working and for commuting. They apply to salaried employees and to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.belastingdienst.nl\/wps\/wcm\/connect\/bldcontentnl\/belastingdienst\/zakelijk\/winst\/inkomstenbelasting\/wanneer_bent_u_ondernemer_voor_de_inkomstenbelasting\/\">entrepreneurs for income tax purposes (IB entrepreneurs)<\/a>. If an employer reimburses a higher travel allowance,&nbsp;the portion above \u20ac0.21 (as of Jan. 1, 2024, \u20ac0.22) per kilometer counts as wages. The employer must withhold payroll taxes on this,&#8221; the government said.<\/p>\n<h2>Prince&#8217;s Day<\/h2>\n<p>The Tax Plan is announced every year on Budget Day. The plans will then be debated by the House of Representatives and the Senate.
