Road works A12<\/strong><\/h2>\n

To protect road workers, the speed limit is always reduced in areas where road work is being carried out. To make sure that people really stick to it, there are often speed cameras or sometimes even mobile speed cameras on these stretches. Trajectory controls are too expensive to install in places where there is only temporary work on the road. But what if the work happens to take place on a stretch of road where all the section control equipment is already in place?<\/p>\n

Trajectory control during works on Galecopper bridge<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This situation is now occurring during work on the Galecopper Bridge. From June 13 to early 2024, Rijkswaterstaat will carry out maintenance on the bridge on the A12 near Utrecht in the direction of Arnhem. A speed limit of 70 km\/h will apply during the work. Normally you can drive 100 km\/h here. This is enforced 24\/7 by the section control system on the parallel road towards Arnhem.<\/p>\n

The section control system was specially adjusted to 70 km\/h for this purpose during the work. Adjusting a section control system because of work has never been done before. In this case, the work area falls exactly within a section of the section control.<\/p>\n

Penalty Rain<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Public Prosecutor’s Office releases an overview of all traffic fines issued in the country every four months, but the AD requested the figures for the first month of the road works on the Galecopper Bridge.   <\/p>\n

What seems? Between July 4 and August 4, 5,264 fines have already been issued. On average, 170 motorists are speeding across the bridge each day. According to the AD<\/a>, the number could have been much higher, as the system only measures speed on the parallel lane and not on the main roadway. They will be hefty fines<\/a>, as speeding at road works is more heavily fined, as the safety of the road workers is compromised.<\/p>\n
