Fastest car on the N\u00fcrburgring<\/h2>\n

Porsche currently holds two records at the N\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife. Indeed, the lap record for “traditional” production cars is held by Porsche test driver Lars Kern. He set a lap time of 6:47.30 on June 14, 2021 in a Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The German automaker now also holds the record for electric production cars. Once again, Lars Kern was behind the wheel. <\/p>\n

The green hell<\/h2>\n

Driving a Taycan Turbo S, the Porsche test driver<\/a> conquered the “green hell” in 7 minutes and 33 seconds. The Taycan he was behind the wheel in was completely standard. For his safety, though, a roll cage and racing bucket seats were fitted. The sports sedan also featured the new Tequipment Performance kit and Porsche Dynamic Chassic Control (PDCC).<\/p>\n

4D Chassis Control<\/h2>\n

The Performance kit is new for the Taycan<\/a> and includes 21-inch RS-Spyder-design rims with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. Although the rubber compound is similar to that of the race tire, the tires are approved for street use. The Performance kit also includes a software update for Porsche<\/a> 4D Chassis Control. For perfect balance, the system analyzes and synchronizes all of the Taycan’s undercarriage functions in real time.<\/p>\n

Only available in Germany<\/h2>\n

The Performance kit is currently only available in Germany on the Taycan Turbo S model year 2023, whose production started in July 2022. The Performance kit is expected to be available in other markets by the end of 2022. It is also possible to have it retrofitted without voiding the manufacturer’s warranty.<\/p>\n

“In the past, only super sports cars came close to 7:33 minutes,” said Lars Kern, the Porsche test driver who clocked the new record time. “The new Performance kit allowed me to push even further, as the car responded even more accurately and vividly to my inputs.”<\/p>\n
