The aim was to make an all-terrain vehicle that offers the driving characteristics of a sports car on asphalt. In 2003 the development project was completed. Porsche presented the Cayenne, Volkswagen the Touareg. In 2005 Audi had its Q7 ready. The Touareg is named after a nomadic tribe in the Sahara.<\/p>\n\n<p>The project that led to the first Porsche Cayenne was a collaboration between the Porsche, Volkswagen and Audi brands. The aim was to make an all-terrain vehicle that offers the driving characteristics of a sports car on asphalt. In 2003 the development project was completed. Porsche presented the Cayenne, Volkswagen the Touareg. In 2005 Audi had its Q7 ready. The Touareg is named after a nomadic tribe in the Sahara.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Choise<\/strong><br\/><\/h2>\n\n<p>The Touareg was available with a remarkably varied range of engines. From a five-cylinder in-line, via the V6 and VR6 to a V8, V10 or even a V12. The latter managed to cough up a power of 450 hp. In 2007 a real sports version was also introduced: the R50 based on the V10 model. The Touareg proved successful for the brand, reason enough to introduce a second generation in 2010.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>third generation<\/strong><br\/><\/h2>\n\n<p>We are now ready for the third generation, which came on the market at the end of 2018. Despite the increased dimensions and luxury, the car has become lighter and more economical than the first two generations. Under the skin, the car is still closely related to the Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg, but relatives have been added with the Audi Q8, Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>&#8216;disappeared&#8217;<\/strong><br\/><\/h2>\n\n<p>At the end of 2020, the Touareg silently disappeared from the Dutch market.
