The model line dates from 1972, when the first generation (E12) succeeded the Neue Klasse models. The 5 Series was also the first model to receive a Series designation, with the further (motor) version being indicated by three numbers. From the second generation the car is also available as a sporty M5 and from the third generation the car can also be ordered as station wagon (Touring). After the 3 Series, the 5 Series is BMW&#8217;s most successful model.<\/p>\n\n<p>The 5 Series is the longest-running model in BMW&#8217;s line-up. The model line dates from 1972, when the first generation (E12) succeeded the Neue Klasse models. After the 3 Series, the 5 Series is BMW&#8217;s most successful model.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>shifts<\/strong><br\/><\/h2>\n\n<p>In 2009, the 5 Series range was expanded with another body style: the 5 GT, in full Gran Turismo. However, for the current model presented in 2017, the GT version has been moved to the 6 Series. The models that previously fell under the 6 Series, are in turn moved to the new 8 Series.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Handy gesture<\/strong><br\/><\/h2>\n\n<p>We have now arrived at the current generation introduced in 2017, which is therefore only available as a sedan and Touring, just like in the past. An M5 is also present, this time producing no less than 600 hp. The new 5 Series is also packed with all kinds of new technologies. Perhaps the most notable of these is that a number of multimedia functions can be operated by means of gestures.
