Why the least powerful Audi Q6 is called ‘Performance’
Q6 e-Tron Quattro
Until now, the new Audi Q6 e-tron could be ordered as 285 kW (388 hp) strong Q6 e-tron Quattro and SQ6 e-tron Quattro with 360 kW (490 hp). Now you can also choose the Q6 e-tron Performance in the configurator. You might expect it to surpass the SQ6 in terms of power and creep toward 441 kW (600 hp). Not so! The performance variant has to make do with “only” 225 kW (306 hp) (240 kW (326 hp) with launch control).
Long breath
By “performance,” Audi is not referring to power but to driving range. Whereas the Q6 e-tron Quattro and SQ6 e-tron quattro make it to 625 and 589 kilometers, respectively, on a battery charge, the Q6 e-tron Performance manages to squeeze 641 kilometers out of its 100 kWh battery. So it is not more powerful than other versions, but it does get farther. It is still fast, by the way, with a 0-100 time of 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. Moreover, it may tow up to two tons.
fast charging
Like the other versions within the new electric Q6 e-tron series, the Audi Q6 e-tron Performance features an 800-volt architecture, allowing it to have a maximum of 270 kW at a fast charger. In practice, this means that ten minutes of charging is sufficient to extend the range by more than 260 kilometers. Charging the battery pack from 10-80% takes about 21 minutes under ideal conditions.
Audi Q6 e-tron prices
The Audi Q6 e-tron Performance Edition is the new entry-level car, with a starting price of 71,950 euros. For the 285 kW (388 hp) strong Q6 e-tron quattro, the brand is asking a minimum of 77,950 euros. For the top version – the SQ6 e-tron Quattro – you will spend a minimum of 99,950. So the question is: do you choose extra power or just extra driving range. In the latter case, you can leave a lot of money in your pocket.
