Which BMW C 400, the X or the GT?

BMW Motorrad has now beefed up its two midsize motorcycle scooters. They have been technically improved and also equipped with new features, colors and accessories. The BMW C 400 X emphasizes dynamic features. The BMW C 400 GT is a Gran Turismo version aimed more at touring and impresses with greater comfort levels.

BMW C 400 X Rugged

The appearance of the C 400 X is bolder and more rebellious due to a dynamic front end shape. Especially the new model variant Rugged with the matte Kalamata color, red rims and red-black seat attracts immediate attention. Whichever way you look at it: this is just a tasty scooter to look at. The optional protective bars give it a tough appearance. The C 400 GT impresses with its wider upper fairing and larger headlight unit. The color scheme is less pronounced.

BMW ABS Pro

The single-cylinder engine with an output of 25 kW (34 hp) at 7,500 rpm and maximum torque of 35 Nm at 5,750 rpm is unaffected. Power is transmitted through a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). You have to look for the changes in equipment.
Both the BMW C 400 X and the BMW C 400 GT are now equipped with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro as standard. In addition, the Dynamic Brake Control function (DBC) coupled with the ABS Pro offers a very sensitive response and high braking and riding stability with the best possible deceleration, even when cornering.

Wheel slip curbing

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR) are also standard. DTC offers even more safety when accelerating – even at lean angles and especially on slippery roads. MSR reduces rear wheel slip if you suddenly close the throttle.

Connecting phone

The BMW C 400 X and BMW C 400 GT now come standard with a large 6.5-inch TFT screen. As part of the Connectivity Pro option, the BMW C 400 GT can also be equipped with a large 10.25-inch screen. A smartphone can be connected via Bluetooth then you can listen to music while driving. The smartphone can be charged in a cooled storage compartment. In addition, the free BMW Motorrad Connected app offers practical arrow navigation directly via the TFT display.

BMW C 400 more storage space

The BMW C 400 X and BMW C 400 GT now have more storage space under the seat. In the BMW C 400 X, the storage volume is 3 liters larger. In the BMW C 400 GT, including the front pockets, the storage volume has increased by as much as 12 liters. The BMW C 400 GT now comes standard with a manually adjustable windshield. With 43.5 liters of storage space, the new illuminated top case not only offers 13.5 liters more volume than before, but also 10 kg instead of the previous payload of 5 kg.

In the Netherlands, the BMW C 400 X has a recommended retail price starting at €8,930 and the BMW C 400 GT has a recommended retail price starting at €10,100 Its market launch will follow in the first quarter of 2025.
