Where smoothness is not a problem, but the whole idea – The I.C.E. 2026
Yet those same winter conditions can also mean something quite different. Not a hindrance to everyday life, but rather a thick layer of extra experience. Exactly that idea forms the basis of The I.C.E. St. Moritz – short for The International Concours of Elegance. It is an event where snow and ice are not fought, but embraced. Where winter is not a killjoy, but the setting of a brilliant event for the car enthusiast.
Winter as a conscious choice at The I.C.E.
In St. Moritz, Switzerland, winter comes as no real surprise. Between the mountains in the Engadin Valley, the lake freezes over every year, transforming the landscape into an almost fairytale winter wonderland. Right there, on the frozen lake, The I.C.E. St. Moritz takes place at the end of January. An event that shows how the most exclusive cars and style come together when you don’t try to control the conditions, but take advantage of them.

On January 30 and 31, 2026, the frozen lake will once again transform into a stage for classic racing cars and sports cars that come here precisely for a healthy dose of slipping and sliding.
A carefully dressed spectacle
That The I.C.E. is exclusive can be seen not only in the cars, but in everything around them. The event is dressed down to the last detail. For example, champagne is served by figure skaters in elegant suits. So this is not a casual meeting in the parking lot next to an après-ski hut, but a carefully composed experience in which nothing is left to chance.
Elegance in motion at The I.C.E.
The frozen lake acts as a kind of open-air theater in which the so-called Icestyle takes center stage. Here the “Concours d’Elegance” moves away from the classic, static format and classic sports cars, elegant GTs and rare specimens glide across the ice in a controlled manner, driven by people who know that finesse is more important here than power – although their own power is probably in order as well. The interplay between man, machine and winter conditions makes this event unique.
Back to Dutch reality
When you see these images, the contrast with the Netherlands becomes painfully clear. Where we are mainly concerned with limitation and avoidance, The I.C.E. St. Moritz proves that snow and ice can also be something other than misery. Okay, provided you choose the right scenery, the right cars and the right people. Then smoothness doesn’t become a problem. Then it becomes just the whole idea.
The event will take place on Jan. 30 and 31. Enjoy the images below taken from The I.C.E.
