Updated MOT report as of Jan. 1, 2025
The new MOT inspection report
The design of the MOT inspection report has been modified so that only relevant data is visible; for example, the text block on spot checks is omitted if no spot check has taken place. In addition, the name of the inspector is no longer visible on the report. The layout is further improved and the report is written in understandable language. This new design was created in cooperation with various industry parties to meet the needs of vehicle users.
Curious about the new MOT report? Here are two examples.
Key information instantly visible
What stands out about the new MOT inspection report? There is a prominent block on the front of the report, at the top left, with the most important information: license plate number, result of the inspection and validity date of the inspection. If the vehicle passes the MOT, there is a green check mark and an icon of a car. If the vehicle did not pass the inspection, a red cross and a QR code can be seen.
MOT rejection: the QR code
That QR code leads the vehicle owner directly to a website page where they can find more information about the MOT. Also on that side of the report is a block for repair points, repair advisory points, reject points and comments.
No more privacy-sensitive data
On the right side of the report are the details of the vehicle and who issued the report. The name of the inspector is no longer shown on the new report. Only the pass number of the inspector is entered on the form. The name of the sample inspector is also no longer on the report.
Objection clause
What is also new is that the objection clause is shown that is appropriate to the situation. And the sample entry field is only shown if a sample was actually taken.
Eight different MOT reports
The RDW has prepared a total of eight different reports that the MOT inspector can issue. In this article, you’ve already seen two of them: Approve and Reject with Sample. The entry field for the random check is only visible if a random check has actually taken place. The following eight versions exist of the MOT report.
- Approval
- Reject
- Sample approval
- Sample rejection
- Duplicate – Approval
- Duplicate – Rejection
- Duplicate – Approval with sample
- Duplicate – rejection with sample
